On the draft night Embiid will be 3 months older than when Len was drafted. It's fair to compare sophomore Len to freshman Embiid.

Emibiid hasn't done jack, but everyone was all over him and hyping him up as a possible number 1 pick because he was tall, quick, and had good instincts.

If you watch tape of Alex Len in college, he was scary fast for a big dude. The way he could put the ball on the floor and go to the hole was impressive. Perhaps his instincts and defense wasn't as good as Embiid, but both players have lots of room for improvement.

I bet if Embiid and Len matched up in college, it would have been a close battle.

Both players also seem to have issues with injuries.

We need to give Len a full season to go through training camp, summer league, and build confidence. Remember, he was thrown right into the fire and went right at NBA talent. He never got a chance to play against the summer scrubs and other rookies in the summer league. That's where you build up confidence.

If he completes a FULL summer league, and FULL training camp, and gets decent minutes this year without showing improvement, he is a bust. But if he starts to improve, our pick last year could start to look really good.

If not, at least we didn't take Anthony Bennett, and at least we STOLE Archie.

lol did you honestly just say Embiid and Len are comparable? what drugs are you on?

Because Embiid has played exactly how many NBA minutes?

So does that mean Len is better than Jabari Parker? Andrew Wiggins? Just because he has zero experience in the NBA doesn't mean he can't be better. He has less basketball experience (started playing at 17 I believe), has amazing footwork for someone his size, defensive presence, post moves, and he's only 19. He's better in every single category than Alex Len and it's not even a question.

If Len were in this draft, he'd barely be Top 10 pick. Probably closer to 10, if not 15.

Uhh.... not really. Basketball is about experience. Remember when you were a kid in 7th grade and the 8th graders were that much more talented and athletic than you. Then when you become a Sophomore, you've been playing at an equal level where the talent level evens out? SImilar concept. Playing one year in college basketball is a HUGE transition most players can't catch up with right away. Thats why most freshman barely play. The game is too fast, too physical and too demanding than what they're use to.

You put Embiid in college basketball next year, and he would dominate and his stats would increase greatly. Wouldn't be surprised if he went 16/11/3/3 (some range in this area).

Not really. Len started playing basketball very late and has less experience than Embiid. Also, one year difference in physical development at a very young age is huge.

Len started playing basketball at age 13.
Embiid started playing basketball at age 17.

How does Len have less experience than Embiid when he played 2 years of college basketball to Embiid's 1, and played longer overall than Embiid? You're right, one year development is huge. Len has had 2 years of college basketball and one season in the NBA compared to Embiid's one year of college basketball, and Embiid is still better in every facet of the game of basketball than Len. Embiid has a chance to become a great. People don't throw a comparison of Duncan/Hakeem every year. Is he guaranteed to do that? No. But he has the tools. Len doesn't have the tools to be that good.

Len can still be a hell of a player, but Embiid is better now. And has the tools to be much better down the line. Only time will tell who lives up to it or if any actually can stay healthy to play. But you're crazy if you think Len and EMbiid now are similar. Not even close.

I never said that they are similar. I just said that it's fair to compare sophomore Len to freshman Embiid, which it is.

... why? Because of a few months in age difference? Len as a sophomore was in his 2nd year in a system, 2nd year on campus, 2nd year playing the college game. Thinking that it was a similar experience between the two purely because of a few months age difference is absurd.

And even with all of that considered, Embiid was STILL a considerably better player as a freshman than Len as a sophomore.

If Embiid is better than Len this season he will be written off as a bust in my books. Yes, I'm a jerk like that. Get better.
