USA are just too big, strong and athletic.

Love Tyus. He's such a high IQ player, always makes the right play.

Is Michigan still in a good position for Thornton?

ManualRam wrote:yeah sheed's my guy. i know coaches tend to hype up their players, but lavin said that he's the most gifted guard he's ever coached and he's coached baron davis.
most likely a statement made in the moment, but sheed is very talented. he's got good size, strength, athleticism, creativity, footwork, defends well, drive and dish playmaking and he actually has a nice pull up. he does have a slight pause at the top of his jumper, so that's a bit of a concern, but it isn't too egregious. i just like the fact that he's a physical specimen type PG, but plays with good patience. he plays at those in b/t speeds that bodes well for PnR play. as a finisher he has the strength and body control, but he also has the presence of mind to know that he has to dupe help defenders too with eurosteps and fakes.

i'll be interested to see how lavin distributes minutes this yr as they still have a deep, experienced back court. also, playing alongside d'angelo harrison can be a challenge too since he's so shot happy.

Yeah as a sju fan i love jordans pontetial though as you said playinglongside Harrisosn not easy..sounds like Artis will transfer here

LONG ways to go but yes. I expect UM, UK or Duke. His visit to UK will tell a lot. Also wants to do a package deal with Tyus Battle.

I love watchign Beleins offense i know he recruits well but im surprised even mroe of the top kids dont want to play for him hes such a good offensive coach and gives the players freedom on the court

Plus players really seem to develop under him and alot move on to the nba which is very important to recruits

Yeah shoe camps and AAU politics...

Jeff Meyer, a UM assistant, coached Tank Thornton at Liberty. He also coached Eric Gordon Sr at Liberty and recruited Jr to IU.

The Thorntons are big on development, DTJR didn't play EYBL to work on his game with pros, so the admiration of Beilein and his staff is there from that perspective. Doesn't hurt that Walton will be a Sr as a worst.

Josh Jackson is going out of state though his recruitment is a mystery at this point

Miles Bridges is MSU or a blueblood

Brian Bowen, Xavier Tillman and Brandon Johns are the next crop to look for in Michigan.

Didn't realize Seventh Woods was SIGNIFICANTLY younger than Dennis Smith, Lonzo Ball, Kobi Simmons and Derryck Thornton.

yeah 15 for another month or so. ton of time to grow physically and as a player and figure out what his offensive identity is. Hopefully he keeps that ballhawk mentality on defense because that alone will sustain him at any level he'll get a chance to play at.

how good is this kid?

pj is very good. another kid in this class who was imo was unfairly downgraded due to injury (tore his acl). he's another one of those kids who grew up as a PG then had a later growth spurt, retaining his skills and instincts. just a couple yrs ago he was a 6'er now he's close to 6'7 it seems. he's got all the ball skills. can shoot, handle and pass. wirey, long, albeit thin. good athlete prior to his injury and is just now getting it back. high iq player with solid playmaking instincts. i don't know if he's a point anymore, but he can handle it for stretches. i expect him to climb back up the rankings after the evaluators see him in action again and see that his athleticism is back.
as an nba prospect, i think he could be the 2nd best SG in this class. the only real concern i have about him is his thin frame.

apparently PJ been playing with a torn ACL since he was 12 before he finally had the surgery last year. also reportedly he was killing it at the top 100 and looked bigger, stronger, and faster WHILE wearing his knee brace. What we have here could be really dangerous later on. Definitely gonna keep him on my radar.

i saw that nasty in game dunk he had where he took off from the dotted line. sure didn't look like kid with a knee brace. really like him though. nba camp was a good look for him, but i would've liked to see him with team usa. i think he would've made the team.

speaking of team usa, the player who's impressed me the most has been jalen brunson so far. love watching him in this setting where he's surrounded by talent as opposed to his HS team. he had a tendency to be a chucker on his HS team, but with team USA his vision and creativity really shines.

that lydon kid is a nice little player too. smooth stroke and can attack closeouts. first time seeing him in action.

Yeah wasn't really sold on Brunson at first. Now I see what the hype is about. Kid looks like quality out there. Got a soft spot for good passers he won me over. Vision looked as good as Tyus out there.

think he would have showed out and added to what was already a dominating performance by the US. Tyus and Jalen distributing just fine over there though.
