Re: How far does Embiid fall?
Let me see...
After less than 500 minutes of college ball he has non contact stress fractures in his back and foot. As a GM I would probably be willing to let the first one in his back slide but the fracture in his foot is a major red flag. The top 6-7 guys in this draft probably have all-star type potential so I probably wouldn't pass on any of them for a guy with 2 screws in his foot esp when you consider in the high risk of reoccurrence of this type of injury. I would probably look at him after pick #7 but wouldn't be surprised if Ainge took him at 6 and the Celts just go the rebuild route.
Personally I would take Wiggins, Parker, Exum, Vonleh, Smart, Randle, and Gordon all ahead of Embiid at this point. After those guys are all off the board then take a flier on Embiid.

that's pretty bold. Can I quote you?
The answer: 7th is his floor. If Tellem cannot get him in the top 3/4, he's probably going to steer him to Boston or LA. Range is 3 to 7.
1) Wiggins/Parker
2) Parker/Wiggins
3) Philly would probably pass given they went through this last year with Nerlens and they play the same position. Doesn't seem wise to pass on someone who can be relied upon with all star potential for another center reclamation project. Take Exum who's got insane potential and be done. Vonleh probably gets consideration as does Gordon and Randle. It'll make it easier to rationalize passing on JoJo because it's not impossible to find him there at 10 (though I think odds are beyond slim).
4) Orlando is interesting. Take the guy with the best upside in the draft but health is a major red flag or take a guy who you can 100% rely on to play ball for you. Hennigan understands you need major talent to become a championship level team but does Orlando have the balls to do it. They've liked Smart for a long time and Vonleh has a lot to get excited about. I could see Orlando taking the chance.
5) Utah doesn't need a C. They need to get guys who can help now. Tellem will keep him out of Utah. Randle or Smart seem like their best options. If there is one big surprise, I could see McBuckets go here. Yeah, it's a white star thing but he also fits a big need.
6) Boston- Ainge is a ballsy mofo. I find it hard to believe that he'd let Kupchak swoop in on Embiid but clearly he likes Gordon and the home town kid in Vonleh. If Vonleh is there, Ainge may go that direction but IMO Boston seems like the most realistic spot.
7) Lakers seem to want Smart/Gordon/Randle. If Embiid is there I just hink there is no shot Mitch doesn't bite the bullet. For Jim Buss it'd be a make or break type decision but I think the kids want so badly to live up to their father's legacy they'd make the move Dr. Buss would surely make... Embiid.

Hey I think it's possible, would be lower end of top 10 but still think somebody will take a risk.

#2. Sanders has no future as a starting center. Bucks have to take him. Even if he only has 3-4 healthy seasons, they'll still be better than what Sanders can get them.

This, theres no way hes slipping past 3.
While the 6ers have shown they aren't scared to take a injuried big man, I just can't see them passing on Exum. The Magic's GM has been adverse to taking risk on injuried guys so I just can't see us taking him with Smart and Vonleh still on the board. I think Favors & Kanter make it difficult for the Jazz to pick up another center. IMO the most realistic landing spot is Boston.

4 If Orlando doesn't want to take him I think someone trades up for him here.

Re: How far does Embiid fall?
i dont think he will fall at all. and i think cleveland would prove to be enormous idiots to pass on him. he is by far the best prospect in this draft. cleveland isnt a win now team, waiting 4-6 months for him is worth the wait.
if he does fall, he wont get past LA.
picking wiggins over embiid will turn out to be worse for cleveland then taking bennet

Re: How far does Embiid fall?
His absolute floor is fifth.
You can make an argument for Parker, Wiggins, Exum and Smart in the top 4, but after that Utah is left taking on and developing a big. There are no real wing or guard players projecting 5-8.
We already have Gobert/Favors/Kanter, so we can afford to take the risk, and there really isn't an argument for not taking Best Player Available when there isn't a better fit in our tier of the draft.
Having said that, we might take Embiid for someone further down who wants to take a flyer if it nets us assets and allows us to pick more for need without losing value. But that would still mean he was picked at 5.

Hopefully 7th.
But we know Boston hates us so they will pick him before we do.

Re: How far does Embiid fall?
Blake Griffin missed his rookie year and Anthony Davis' rookie year was injury plagued. Both are two of the best guys at their position now. So Oden this, Oden that; if I'm the Kings and he's there at 8, I take him and run.

Re: How far does Embiid fall?
I would only pass on a potential great center if there are injury issues and there is a Kevin Durant caliber player in the draft. Do Wiggins or Parker have Durant like potential? If not I'm risking it and taking Embiid.

I personally would not risk a top 5 pick for him in this deep draft but that's just me

Hinkie doesn't pass up talent for fit. Hinkie takes calculated risks (see Noel). If all these experts projects Embiid to be fully healthy after 3-6 mos., it won't stop Hinkie from drafting him. Who is he passing up with the third overall pick anyway? Exum? A guy that plays the same position with MCW.
Sixers has Noel and the 10th pick (Aaron Gordon as per DX), as additions to add interests and sell tickets next season. Sixers isn't a hurry and can afford to wait on a talented player like Embiid.
MCW
James Anderson?
Thad
Aaron Gordon
Noel
Then Embiid, their 2015 lotto player and 20+m cap player (not sure) in 2015-2016 season.

Re: How far does Embiid fall?
wasn't the back injury a result of him falling on his back against Ok State and trying to keep playing on it? Everyone says he's injury prone but that injury doesn't seem like something you can avoid.
