You guys are being way too hard on Klay Thompson. I'd pull this trade in a HEARTBEAT

Thats a very interesting point right there. Man like I said the guy is what only 24 years old and still has upside, is a solid defender and shooter. And he isnt a headcase this would be one of the future pieces that we need. We wouldn't get a better player at the 7 position with this much upside unless by some chance Embiid fell to us. But you still got take in consideration his injury history

And dont forget from the rumor we'd be getting another 1st rounder in the middle of draft. That's is a no brainer to me.

Klay is better than anyone at the 7th pick I would probably take klay over anyone in this draft since embiids stress fracture

I don't think highly of wiggins or Parker and especially not exum or Gordon...only people I'm high on are smart vonleh and randle (but that's more hope than faith)

Y'all should make that trade (that being said as a rockets fan I hope y'all don't)

No it was serious the last part is more of a joke

I really think klay is better than anyone will be at pick 7 and the lakers should take the trade

Is he better than anyone at the seventh right now? Yeah. That is basically a given how none of these guys are even in the league. We cannot make the argument.

The question is; Does he have as much promise as Randle, Smart, Vonleh? No. I don't think so.

The preferred targets in this draft are to fill in a position of need, which the team desperately needs. The two most important positions being the PG and either of the PF or Center spot.

Either Randle, Smart, Vonleh or Embiid (who knows if he even drops this far) will do.

The problem I have with Thompson is that he doesn't fill a position of need for us. We can easily acquire what he'll provide at a fraction of the cost from a Nick Young or a Jodie Meeks. Sharp shooters aren't a scarcity in this league.

I really hope this is all just rumors because this screams mediocrity from the Lakers part if it goes through. If you ask me, just keep the damn pick.

Absolutely not. He's in a contract year and will end up being overpaid. You are talking 10 mill/year for a player who has never even had a average NBA PER. That is the best way to waste your cap space and stay irrelevant for years.

I guess I really think less highly of this draft than most. Even with the few I listed I think klay is and will be a better player (except vonleh I have a good feeling about him but he won't last till 7) and to the guy that quoted me above you. Klay can play 2 or 3 and Kobe should MOSTLY play 3 at his age and after an Achilles injury that would be a deadly 2-3 combo if Kobe comes back to form and with them the pg isn't that big of a concern if farmar resigns...pf would be a bit of a concern and center too if pau leaves (but him leaving may make me like y'all more haha) and hill signs somewhere else

Maybe sacre and Kelly develop though

It does not matter if he is better than who we get at 7. The person at 7 will be on a rookie deal. Klay will not after this year and cost a big chunk of cap space that will hurt us in the long run. People get infatuated with the name too easily and don't seem to pay enough attention to how these players fit long term, and how they affect cap flexibility which is the most important aspect to manage in order to build a contender.

http://blogs.mercurynews.com/kawakami/2014/06/20/snags-warriors-kevin-love-talks-dont-want-take-back-kevin-martin-dont-want-include-klay-thompson/

* 6:33 a.m. Saturday update: The LA Times is reporting that the Lakers and Warriors are talking about a deal that would send the Lakers’ #7 overall pick to the Warriors for Klay Thompson as part of a three-way Kevin Love deal with Minnesota. Very interesting.

A few hours ago an NBA source insisted to me that the Warriors flat-out will not agree to any of the proposals Minnesota is currently suggesting in the Kevin Love discussions.

Not now, not in a day, not in 400 days.

The first stumbling block: The Warriors are making it clear to everyone in the league, including Minnesota president Flip Saunders, that they very much do not want to part with Klay Thompson, the key part of any Minnesota demand.

-The Warriors want it to be structured around Lee + Harrison Barnes for Love.

-And Minnesota wants it structured around Lee + Klay Thompson + other Warriors items for Love + Martin.

This seems like a huge smoke screen by Mitch to throw other GMs off.

I think because this leaked out now this may be a sign its a good chance it wont happen. We already know Mitch and Jim work in secret.

That doesn't even make sense. I'd trade both Barnes and Klay in a heartbeat if I got back Love for it. Min should go back to the Boston deal.

The only way I do this deal is if we're getting another first round pick pick along with Klay.

Also, LMAO @ the Warriors offer of Lee and Barnes for Love. Even if they traded Lee and Klay they'd still clearly win the deal.

This is Mitch and West Jobbing Minnesota... Trying to force them into pulling a trigger on the deal on the table before it goes away and GSW dumps Klay for the 7th...

I strongly doubt this happens.

Doesn't make sense for Golden State to trade Klay, and the rumored deal isn't enough for Love. The missing piece to all of these rumors is where will Love re-sign. If he won't re-sign in Boston or Golden State all of these rumors are irrelevant.

I wonder if GSW is telling the TWolves; "If Love will sign an extension, you can have Klay. If not, Klay stays."

Reading on the GB that maybe Minni's 13th pick might be included with Klay to us...

I'd do 7th and someone of Klay and 13th no problem.
