Best "International" Players

Post#1 » by Ong_dynasty » Sat Jun 21, 2014 9:11 pm

We always here about players like Messi who probably "under-achieves" (I know this is not best days to say that). for their country.
Can you name players who "over-achieves" for their countries? and lets see if we can make a team.

Let me start a list.
The easiest is of course Miroslov Klose.

Another one:
-Darius Vassell (anybody remember him)

Thomas Muller definitely overachieves for Germany. Tons of players from smaller nations. Almost all Italian players.

Scores or assists every x times per game:
1,19 in DFB Pokal
0,77 in National Team
0,72 in Bundesliga
0,57 in CL

Not really overachieving. Slightly maybe.

For current players, Neymar and Valbuena come to mind

Coentrao looks a lot better offensively for Portugal than for Real Madrid.

Used to be Dos Santos as the poster boy for this. **** for his clubs and a monster for Mexico. Now it's the reverse.

Müller definitely does not overachieve, at least not significantly. Although being misused by Guardiola, he has still racked up a ridiculous number of goals and assists. (One previous poster had the stats, and they are deflated due to substitutions.)
When being used properly, he is right on par with Robben and Ribéry, if not slightly better.

Bendtner. 24 goals in 56 matches is a respectable number considering that he is absolute **** at the club level.

Suarez is a monster at club level too, though, so it's not terribly surprising how effective he is for Uruguay. Gyan on the other hand is certainly a good example.

   didn't really read the OP. I regret putting Suarez.

As for Gyan, he's never gotten much playing time in clubs. Gyan steps up big time for Ghana and folks praise him in international matches.

Stephane Guivarch is the worst starting WC-winning CF in the history of the game.

^^
I think Dugarry (from the same team) can challenge him.

That team had the worse strikers possible.
