Reports of Manu Ginobili’s international retirement were evidently premature.
Despite the 2012 Olympics having been characterized as his swan song with team Argentina, Ginobili is coming back for more, announcing “I’m in!” via Twitter on Friday for the upcoming FIBA Basketball World Cup in Spain.
The competition runs from Aug. 30 to Sept. 14, about two weeks before NBA teams will open training camp. The Spurs play their first preseason in Germany on Oct. 8 against Alba Berlin.
Ginobili, who will be 37 in July, averaged 12.3 points during the NBA regular season, then 14.3 in the playoff as the Spurs won their fifth championship.
Can't say that i'm surprised but I can say that i'm not too happy about it either. If we want to make another run at it we need him well rested and healthy.
