Suns interested in trading the 27th pick

Post#1 » by atlantabbq99 » Sun Jun 22, 2014 12:58 pm

I know the Suns like to sell picks from time to time. Some quality guys might fall in the draft like Adreian Payne, James Young, Clint Capela, Glen Robinson, or Mitch McGary. It could be a small trade looking into.

I believe the rumor is (at least from the trade board), that they are looking for a future 1st for it.

No way I do that.

Agree with uga_dawgs24 here in that everything depends on the price. If the price is 20/20/20/2 2nds protection then I would pull the trigger. 27 would be an interesting place for us picking before 2 teams in OKC and SAS who seem to target similar players as we do. If they insist the pick should have declining protection, then I pass. Not looking to gamble - not for 27 anyway.

I would be interested in the pick. We keep pick number 15 and send them our 2nd (43rd) and 2016 top 20 protected then Lottery protected 2017. top 3 protected 2018 and number one overall protected for ever......... LOL...
But I got to believe we make the playoffs the next two years. So I wouldn't mind giving up a 20th or so pick in 2016. Remember in this years draft there could be someone that has lottery talent at 27 like K.J. McDaniels,
Glenn Robinson, or maybe even Slo Mo K. Anderson. I doubt any of those guys are there at pick number 43. with that we could pick the best player on the Hawks board regardless of position.

or use the two picks to trade up maybe someone gets to scared to draft Joel Embiid.

I was a bit surprised by Bogdanovic place in lots of mock draft (35th to 40th),
after watching him last summer in the European Championship.

He's now at 30 on NBADraft.net, picked by... SAS
I see them picking him to replace Ginobili when he'll retire. He's less explosive, but in SAS systems, he would certainly fit.

Not sure if he's worth trying to get the 27th pick, but since we are trying to copy SAS...

15 for 18 and 27 would be my deal.

I would also do 15 and 43 for 18 and 27

I don't think we have room for another 1st round pick this year and to me its not worth giving up future assets

On a related note Channing Frye opts out of 6.8 mil deal with suns. I'd welcome Frye for a good price tag because i'm still overly bitter about Pero's playoff performance Is he worth 6.8 million? Should the hawks make a play for him? Interesting...

We need to pass unless a must have player is available.
I prefer not to be held back by multiple guaranteed contracts.

Held back by what? Unrealistic dreams of acquiring that superstar that you all thirst for.

Let's see this summer alone people have claimed that the following players are available:

Kyrie Irving
Kevin Love
Lebron James
Carmelo Anthony
Chris Bosh
Dwayne Wade

All stars and superstars to some and we will not acquire any of them. What is holding us back?

We might not need to get the 27th pick but we need to acquire all the talent we can acquire and rookie contracts are amongst the cheapest way to do it

I think he was referring to Channing Frye, not your proposed deal, which I like a lot. Not sure the Suns would do it though, since IMO it's a lot easier to grab an impact guy with the 27 in this draft than it is at 43, while the 15 to 18 drop is almost nil.

What a list you made there. Too bad melo is the only one that can be offered a contract.
