It had appeared as though Arsenal would buy back Carlos Vela from Real Sociedad, but the La Liga club has instead purchased the remaining 50 percent of his playing rights for €11 million.
Vela wanted to remain with Real Sociedad and enjoyed his key role with the Basque club. Vela is under contract with Real Sociedad until 2018 and has a minimum release clause valuation of €30 million.
Vela remaining could also impact the future of Antoine Griezmann, who has been linked to Paris Saint-German, Monaco, Liverpool and Arsenal.
