Go a few pages back in this thread. I listed dozens of players who aren't significantly longer or bigger than Saric who've played regular minutes in the NBA at the 4 lasts season - many as starters. Anyone who claims that Saric doesn't have the size to defend the 4 in the NBA when the vast majority of the 4s are basically his size is just parroting stuff.

I don't know about him, but anyone who says he's Pat Garrity on defense clearly is either basing that opinion on something else than watching game tape or is a definitive basketball illiterate.

I said it, and on a scale of 1-10 on defense he's in the negative. Watch the draftexpress video on him playing defense its hilarious. By the time he reacts the other player has scored and ran down the court.

I watched dozens of full games from Saric, I don't need to watch a highlights video. He's pretty mobile and agile for a PF and is a very intense and scrappy defender. He lacks length and athleticism to be a good defender, but he won't be the massive defensive liability you purport - he would at the 3, but not at the 4. If he were longer and a high-level defender, than he'd be an easy top-4 pick.

You started by saying he wasn't long enough to guard the interior - but he isn't particularly short or small for a NBA 4 these days. Now you claim "it's hilarious" - that's not an argument worth of debating, just a juvenile rant. Try to make an argument that can be analyzed and debated instead of throwing over-the-top adjectives and telling people to watch a video.

I don't think I said anything about long enough. For you information though length in basketball usually means wingspan or reach so I take what you say with a grain of salt if you didn't know that.

Boris Diaw did not function right with Charlotte, got fired from his job and look at him now.

I hope that because of those comparisons with Boris, Dario does not end up the same way. Coached poorly and teams clueless about playing team basketball, may God help him then.

Cause coaches like Pop and teams like SAS are unfortunately not the standard in all sports to maybe rescue somebody like that again.

The last thing i want for him is to go somewhere where he can only fail because of general incompetence of some others.

Do some real research before you talk out of your ass.

Enlighten me! Maybe you've done research and have seen footage that I haven't. From what I saw he's not near an average defender and from what I've read he has a long ways to go to become average.

Just do your research. Real research, watch game footage instead of some clips.

As a Magic fan I find it appalling to compare his defense to Pat Garrity. Shows me that you haven't really seen him play. Garrity had good intentions but he was immobile like a statue. Saric is quick footed, he rotates well, he understands how to position himself, and he has very high basketball IQ. What he doesn't have is that he is not a very high leaper, but in my opinion moving your feet and rotating is more important for a team defensive concept, and these are things he does. You also have to take into account that he plays with a mean streak, he is not the passive weakling Euro stereotype.

Saric is coming to U.S. for interviews and possible workouts according to my source.His agent stated few days ago that situation about him coming over for next season will be clearer very soon so i guess this step should be followed closely by teams wanting to draft him.

diaw hurt himself in charlotte because that was the peak of his fatness.
he really let himself go in charlotte and labored to get up and down the floor.
he's been in better shape since he's been with SA.

i agree with your general sentiment on saric though. i think he might cause trouble if he's unhappy with the coaching and style of play. he doesn't appear to hold back his thoughts. if a young, dumb team like philly takes him i think he'll take his time overseas and won't come over for a while.

i know he wants to get drafted higher for buyout reasons, but unless he's taken 6 or 7, he should probably be hoping that he drops, maybe to that 13-16 range. there a few teams i see in the mid-lotto i see not being good fits for him.

Chad Ford said Saric is in Tier 2 (with Exum, Smart, Randle, Vonleh, Gordon) according to scouts. Looks like a top 9 pick is likely.

@chadfordinsider
Breaking: Dario Saric has agreed in principle to a three year deal with Anadolu Efes a source close to Saric told http://ESPN.com .
@chadfordinsider
The deal will essentially prohibit Saric from playing in the NBA for a minimum of two years the source told ESPN.

I dont think this story Chad Ford broke is confirmed by his agent, considering all the rumors circling around Saric all these years, nothing is certain until we see this story confirmed by his agent.Regardless, this will hurt his draft stock and could fall to mid 1st-early 20's.

Its safe to say he wont step on a NBA floor for another 3 years.

He will play out the whole contract. With all his indecisiveness, i cant see him coming to the US til that contract runs out.

I wont take him in the lottery.

A good team will draft and stash, I can see Chi drafting so they have less cap holds this summer.

I would love for the Sixers to trade two or three 2nd rounders for a late teens early twenties pick to get him if and stash him if he's still available.

The fact that he had an agreement with Efes was known for some time, kinda odd the US media didn't mention it earlier (pretty sure the interested teams were aware though).

Anyway, one of the main reasons that Saric decided on Efes was coach Ivkovic who is one of best all-time in Europe and great at developing talent.

EDIT: Fyi, it's not a signed and done deal yet. If Saric gets picked by a team he and his agent like, then he'll come over.

Teams looking to make run at free agents and save salary will target Saric. Someone like Phoenix, Chicago, LA Clips, or Houston will select them if they haven't already made a deal to move salary with their pick.

If Chicago hasn't moved their 2 picks in order to move up and get a SG/SF then I'd expect them to target Saric with 16 or 19. Then move the other pick with Dunleavy's contract attached.

Seen this mentioned a couple of times but cant find an original source for it, where's that come from?
