Bulls looking at No. 8 with McDermott

Even before the chase of Carmelo Anthony begins, the Bulls are actively seeking ways to bolster their offense and could move into the upper part of the draft in search of more shooting.

Chicago has had multiple talks with Orlando, both about the No. 12 pick and shooting guard Arron Afflalo, and with Denver about No. 11, but a source told Sporting News that the Bulls have also engaged with the Kings in a potential deal for the No. 8 pick.

Chicago’s focus in such a scenario would be Creighton star Doug McDermott, who averaged 21.7 points and shot 55.0 percent from the field (45.8 percent from the 3-point line) in four years with the Blue Jays. The Bulls also have interest in Michigan State’s Gary Harris and Michigan’s Nik Stauskas, who has made Chicago his home base during the draft process.

The Bulls own the 16th and 19th picks in this year’s draft, and are not eager to bring in two rookies next season as they try to quickly field a contender. Chicago would be willing to move one or both of the picks if they could yield an asset that will help with the team’s scoring woes. The Bulls averaged just 90 points in their first-round loss to Washington, including 69 points in the series clincher.

The Kings saw their future firmed up a bit this weekend when forward Rudy Gay opted in for the final one year and $19.3 million on his contract. They have been among the most active teams in the Top 10 seeking a deal involving their pick.
Kris Bryant will go down as the greatest Chicago athlete after MJ

If these rumors are true, got to give the Front Office some dap for being aggressive. Feels like they are ultra aggressive right now and that's a good thing.

As for Doug McDemott, you won't find a bigger fan of his than me, but if Joel Embid or Julius Randle are there at 8 you take them 10 times out of 10.

This is one of my favorite options... if you move taj, you might be able to get a top 10 pick...maybe even Embiid Smart or Randle. Taj + pick (s) For #8....Bulls open max money, cash in on taj in a deep draft, sign Mirotic, make the kings better for our pick. A Taj Cousins front line is really good imo.

I know, its like watching an out-of-bounds play drawn up by Vinny.
Honesty is my only excuse.

I am not a fan of trading Taj unless we have to because we know that Melo is coming as an FA and we know that the Knicks won't so a S&T. Trading Taj before that is a step backward. We need vets like Taj to be a championship contender, not slow footed rookies like McDermott, regardless of how well he shoots.

Eh. A bit too high for my liking in terms of McDermott. If Bulls get 8th, it means they're guaranteed one of:

Wiggins
Parker
Exum
Embiid
Randle
Gordon
Stauskas
Smart

Hell, Vonleh too.

And you JUST gotta go with one of those instead.

8 does sound like a reach for Dougie McBuckets. And what would we have to give up for this?

I'll be honest, I'd be stunned if the Bulls moved Taj for just draft picks. Like TRULY stunned....

Now if we move 16 & 19 and someone else for the 8th pick and draft Doug McDermott everyone can pick that move apart because of who we drafted but Doug can ball. He has weaknesses but I think his game translates in the NBA and he ain't falling past 9 IMO.
