Chad Ford mock 9.0

Post#1 » by T12 » Mon Jun 23, 2014 5:25 pm

you have to wonder if Orlando really offered 4 and 12 and Afflalo to Milwaukee and Cleveland and got turned down.

1. Parker
2. Wiggins
3. Exum

4 Noah VonlehOrlando Magic (23 - 59)COLLEGE: IndianaHT: 6-10WT: 247POS: PF
The Magic have also been trying to both move up and get another lottery pick. They've offered Nos. 4 and 12 and Afflalo to the Cavs and Bucks, but so far, no takers. They've also used Afflalo as bait to get a pick from the Kings at No. 8 and the Nuggets at 11, but so far, no deal.

The Magic also are taking a long look at Embiid. They know they need an athletic rim protector. Nikola Vucevic has been great, but he doesn't provide the defense they seek in the middle. But there is concern in Orlando that Embiid's timetable won't work with what they are trying to build. If he misses the season and then essentially has his rookie year in 2015-16, they can't really expect him to start helping until 2016 at the earliest. The Magic have already had two brutal years of rebuilding. Two more sounds gut wrenching.

The Magic are also very keen on Exum, and I'm told they would likely select him if he's on the board. If he's gone and Embiid seems like too much of a risk, then it comes down to Vonleh and Marcus Smart to the Magic.

Vonleh has intrigued them ever since a stellar workout. His ability to stretch the floor and his ability to protect the rim make him a very good fit next to Vucevic. The team also needs a point guard badly and has been enamored with Smart for two seasons. Smart's workouts haven't been great in Orlando, however, and the Magic increasingly believe they can get a very good point guard at 12. I think Vonleh has the edge.

Thursday is going to be crazy. We might move up, back, add a pick or stand firm. Afflalo might be with the team or gone and really that applies to anyone not named Oladipo or Vucevic (maybe Harris). Who knows who or what we'll have on the roster come Friday.

Given the way things have developed/unfolded the last few days and week, elsewhere, I have a strong gut feeling we will take Smart. Henny will not take Embiid given the problems with his foot/back...he has refrained from these types of problems before, repeatedly. IMO, Smart is the pick.

But what do I know? not too much.

That Embiid injury screwed us the most. I think most wouldve been fine with Exum. Now we have to decide if Embiid is worth the risk. There's a big dropoff after the top 3 now. Rest is just a crapshoot.

Hopefully Wiggins tells the Bucks he does not want to play for them. I mean, who would?

The Embiid injury sure did screw us...so did the ping pong palooza night...big time.
We ain't taking Embiid...other teams are beginning to see other medical issues as well ?

I believe Smart will be the #4 man.

What about trading for Love?

4th and 12th, Affalo, and a future protected 1st?

I could see Love playing here. A lineup of:
Olandipo
Harkless
Harris
Love
Vucevic

Hell, I'd throw in a few worthless bench players in addition to #4,#12, AA for Mr. Wiggins.

We don't need Love.

Here is the issue... You can get a guard at 12, zero percent you are getting a good big at 12.

We could take smart, trade afflalo, move up to say 8 and take Gordon or Randal...but other then that I am afraid Vonleh might be the pick :(

From things ive read it looks like we have backed off Smart after he came in and had 2 subpar workouts for us.

I would rather go Gordon over Vonleh, and really hope we get Exum at 4, I could see a case of Philly and Cleveland swapping 1 and 3 and Cle still taking Embiid at 3

This happens every year where everyone has their heart set on someone and when he is not picked everyone gets pissed. How about we just Let Hannigan and company do their job and pick the best talent available. If that is Vonleh then so be. I am actually warming up to the idea of Vonleh and Payton.

After the Embiid injury CLE started looking at Exum more. Parker pretty much gave them the middle finger. If they like what they see then they might take Exum #1.

Kyrie not resigning in CLE is a real threat. We could give up #4 and #12 for Irving and #33 and be well on our way.

This is my biggest dream wish for Draft day. Otherwise, Embiid/Exum or BUST.

Then try to move up back into 1st round with AA, Nicholson and #33?
