Orlando Magic: The Orlando Magic are absolutely open for business as one rival executive put it. Although there have been several reports suggesting specific packages and offers, sources close to the process say the team isn’t nearly that close to a deal to be hammering on specifics. The Magic are said to have the entire team on the table for the right combination of assets. The Magic hold the fourth and 12th picks in Thursday’s draft and have been angling to move up in the draft, possibly into one of the top two picks. Sources say there really is not much that’s off limits in talks and that Orlando is willing to listen to overtures on their own picks in trade down scenarios too. The Chicago Bulls have been linked most prominently to a deal with Orlando involving shooting guard Arron Afflalo, although sources say that’s not likely happening on draft night, but it’s still very much in play. The dark horse to obtain Afflalo still remains the Charlotte Hornets, who have long coveted him and are willing to give up the ninth pick and a roster player to do it.

Like the Cavaliers the Magic have a number of options they are weighing, but the smart money says despite the chatter the Magic likely end up where they are at four and 12, but they are working through the process and are willing to deal.
Keep an eye on Jameer Nelson on draft night; his $8 million contract is only partially guaranteed for next season, meaning for $2 million in cash, a team could clear $6 million in cap space. For those teams looking hard at free agents like Carmelo Anthony, Nelson’s contract is fairly attractive.

I wonder who the Cha roster player is? If we get 9, that's prime spot for Stauskas. It would've been Saric, but he's dropped a little with recent news.

could potentially have 4, 9, 12. If Cle wants 4 + 12, let them have it, do the Afflalo/Cha deal, and pick 1 & 9. Too good & easy to be true.

Clev, wants all 3 and Rob prob wont part will 4,12 and AA. I say we will stay at 4 and 12 and if the player we want is there at 9 Rob does the deal for AA and Charlotte.

Then screw it. give them all 3. We werent even supposed to have that high of a pick at 12 anyways.

I know its a haul to get one, but teams in the top 3 value those picks more than ever. Its gonna take a lot to get that first pick.

Does anyone know what the Warriors gave us for Webber back in the day for number 1?

It really only turned out to be 1 unprotected 1st round pick years later (Mike Miller 5th pick)

Listening to Chad Ford on the BS Report. He didn't confirm all of this but he hinted that there were bloodwork issues in the Embiid physical and it sounded like Ford was saying he tested positive for hepatitis. He also mentioned the physical showing bone density issues. If that stuff is true, I'm out.

What sucks is his agent is refusing to show paperwork to teams, so boston/la could just be making up rumors to scare other teams away...

Personally I'm not a fan of moving so many assets for #1 .. 4+12+Afflalo is a lot. And some were even suggesting adding Tobias to that too? I think that's a lil too much

IMO there are just too many ???'s surrounding Parker/Wiggins/Exum .. Unless Henny thinks these guys are really gonna become superstars, I don't think he's giving up so many assets for 1 guy. If he swings and misses, we'll have lost a lot of assets for a bust.

I think he's more likely trading up from #12 to make sure he gets one of Exum/Smart and Vonleh/Randle out of this draft.

But no one really knows what Henny's real plan is. He could easily surprise everyone with a shock move, or just pick #4 and #12 as expected

The problem is Embiid's agent, Tellem, potentially not sharing his medicals with teams other than the Lakers or Celtics. It has been reported he is keeping the medicals from some teams, it's just not clear which teams are getting them and which aren't. It wouldn't surprise me if Tellem himself is leaking all this doom-and-gloom medical info, and then only giving the records to the Lakers, who will shockingly take a chance on him at #7 and get their next Hall-of-Famer. I really hate this about the NBA.

Only because we traded the other two picks for what turned out to be garbage players. The original picks turned out to be lottery picks that could have fetched us Kobe, Nash or Peja in 1996 and Dirk, Pierce or VC in 1998.

If you can't see his medicals you obviously pass on him. If he and his agent want to go to that length to get him to a certain team, then **** him.

Also Embiid has Cancer, SARS, and the Bubonic plague

Seriously, can one guy have that many secret medical issues? I wouldn't count out some of this stuff being made up. These are only 'rumours' so its plausible deniability

It is too much to give up, especially when you consider exum has a 50% chance of being there at 4. Very possible that Bucks and Sixers pass on him

I listened to the podcast. Ford said he had some bloodwork issues and then said its not uncommon for someone from Africa to test positive for Hepatitis. He didnt really say he had it, but one can conclude that that is what he meant.

Jeff Goodman mock draft just came out. He put Philly taking Noah Vonleh and us taking Exum. Fingers crossed.

Wouldn't they test for that when he first moved to the US and then also in College anyway?

That Embiid stuff seems like a big ass smoke screen, his agent probably steering him towards who he wants. Do not want, imagine the drama when it comes time to reup. Nah.

Would anyone trade all 3 for a Carmello in his youth player?

Give Cleveland all 3, draft Parker then sign Lowry or Bledsoe out of the $20 mil in cap space then you got your team of:

Lowry/Bledsoe, Meer, Price
Dipo/Moore
Harris/Hark
Parker/Nicholson
Vooch/O'Quinn

WORLD DOMINATION!!!

It could even be Cleveland making stuff up to scare us into trading up with more assets.

Return to Orlando Magic
