By the way, that's Stein's real twitter, not the fake one I used for the LeBron tweet lol

There was a report yesterday about the Kings having narrowed down their trade options to 3 teams for the 8th pick. I wonder if we could be one of those teams and could be sending Smith out in the deal.

Marc Stein ‏@ESPNSteinLine 4m

One potential scenario, I'm told, would send Smith to Kings for Jason Thompson and Derrick Williams. Jason Terry might be another option

With idea being Sacto would then make move for Rondo using #8, McLemore and whatever else with the idea of Rajon's buddy o' pal Smoove being used in part to convince Rondo to sign on long term.

Stein says the deal would possibly be for Jason Thompson and Derrick Williams, and maybe Jason Terry. Nothing about a 1st round pick.

Forget that post above about the 8th pick.

I was hoping we could get McLemore. Probably unrealistic, but I like the kid and think he will be good.

Seems like we know what the Monroe decision is as well given this stuff.

Thompson would be a good back-up big off the bench as well. A solid fit here.

Also worth questioning who supplied the leak to Stein. Has to be Sacto here trying to pressure Detroit to make the move given Josh Smith's name is now put out there by Stan and Co and there could be no going back.

I hope to God this happens. Glad to see confirmation that Smith is on the block.

Yeah The Kings, Rondo will totally want to play for you if you trade for Josh Smith. Thompson & Williams (plus an extra $3 mil of cap room) would be great.

I'm not seeing many ~bad~ contracts on the Kings. What could we possibly be taking back?

Edit: Ah, I see. Terry/Thompson/Williams. Holy God, sign me up.

I don't really like being tied to Thompson and Williams contracts for the next 3 years. I'd rather take one and Terry, or demand the Kings throw in a future pick (not likely if they're trying to put together a package for Rondo, but worth leveraging in negotiations).

EDIT: Just realized Derrick Williams is actually an expiring RFA after next season, which makes this much better.

Williams is an expiring contract.
