No it's not. Punishment doesn't give back the opportunity of classification to Italy, doesn't help Suarez to redeem himself, doesn't have the WC to have better matches, doesn't make Suárez more poor or rich, only causes Uruguayan fans frustration and makes the WC worse to watch.

He should get a huge fine, though.

you do something wrong, you get punished period, no matter your stature. unless you want him to continue to bite, kick, testicle twist other players willy nilly, you give him the harshest punishment possible. if he was so important to his team, he should've known better.

The punishment has nothing to do with reincidence. Never had, never will have. Punishment is just satisfaction of the good people's bloodlust and only causes suffering. The ban of Suarez, or any player whatsoever, doesn't do any good for this sport, and won't stop him for being overaggressive again, because his aggressiveness comes from beyond his consciousness.

Either you kill him, or brain-wash him, or ban him permanently of this sport. The only way of not seeing overaggressiveness of Suarez in the sport.

The ones that pay for Suarez ban, is the people of Uruguay. But you fine him big time, or give him alternative punishment, like attending charity work in payment of the withdrawal of the ban, or both of them should be much better, because Suarez this way, feel what he did in his bank account, and in his psiqué through work. Ban him of the WC and you'll only create frustration, hatred and no good thing will be built on that.

One game, because that should be a direct red, is what should be given to him. No punishment enforcing. Also, lol at the calling of three-strikes-out criminal policy in this one.

That was the correct play he made, every player should do the same in that position.

Yeah. And Maradona sucks for scoring a goal with his hand, so does Henry and every player that cheated that way.
And so does England for still counting 1966 as a won World Cup when they won it by a goal that shouldnt have counted.

Everybody is scum-baggery

Also, Marchisio's attack on Arévalo is more carreer-threatening than Suarez's biting.

Of course i am.
Im tired of the morally hipocrites that when their own players do something bad its fine, but when someone from other team does it its a huge shame.

Would you celebrate a championship of your country if its won by a dirty play? Be 100% honest.

Bolding should has me confused, WHERE DO YOU STAND

Should bolded because that's what I think Fifa should not ban him, but they will ban for the rest of WC or at least one game.

He should be banned on precedence alone. It's crazy that some are even disputing this.

uhh this is not about being aggressive, this is about acting outside of laws of football. this is not rough tackle, or shoulder bump we are talking about, this is somebody biting opposing player like a little girl to gain advantage. if anything this is complete opposite of being aggressive.

rest of the world couldnt care less about how much people of uruguay are affected. guess how much italians are offended right now. punishment doesn't stop him from doing this again? than you double or triple the punishment until he is either banned from football completely or decides to stop biting people. if anything ban him rest of the tournament so that colombians and others don't have to get rabies shots before the game.

So, basically what you're saying is that FIFA should condone this type of behavior just because he's a great player, but when a lesser player does it, you'd be OK with a ban?

I'm not pro post game punishment at all. Just fine the **** out of them. Football shouldn't be decided on courthouses.

Marchisio did worse for Italy. No one wants his head. There are carreer-threatening plays every match, and far worse than what Suárez did today. You're gonna ban Suárez, than ban everyone else.

You're all just asking for a courthouse to neutralize Suárez for your teams.

Martin87 is right.

And funny. How can someone allegedly be fine with a ban, yet defend Luis' actions because others have also cheated/misbehaved in the past? Others aren't on trial here, Suarez is.

Anyway, he'll be banned and everyone except a few people will be content with Fifa's decision, I reckon.

Of course no. Racial abuse is a very political problem by its own nature. Punishment, neutralization, elimination is totally fine to deal with political questions, I'd say it's the only way. But I say that banning Suárez is the worst and uneffective way to deal with Suárez and overall physical violence in football. It just affect negatively Uruguayans, and do not affect Suárez negatively, except that people will throw out 225 instead of 250 thousands of pounds per week on his next contract.

Suarez commented on the incident:

“These things happen in the box,” Suarez was quoted as telling Uruguayan media.

“We were in contact, chest against shoulder, and I got a knock to the eye.”
