Luis Suárez appeared to bite Giorgio Chiellini during Uruguay's 1-0 win over Italy on Tuesday.
There was not definitive video evidence of a bite as there was in his two previous biting incidents, but it strongly appeared as though Suárez attempted to bite Chiellini. Chiellini attempted to show the referee bite marks in his shoulder.
“These things happen in the box,” Suarez was quoted as telling Uruguayan media.
“We were in contact, chest against shoulder, and I got a knock to the eye.”
