His defense sucks and I don't like him either, but saying he wouldn't be an upgrade over what we've thrown out at the PF position over the last season is laughable. You wouldn't take Boozer over Lewis/Haslem/Battier (yes I know he's retiring)? We're talking about him as a vet minimum guy and only at that. Forget about his 4th quarter play.... I'm looking at him as a guy off the bench who can rebound the basketball and score points. He's not an "answer" to our problems by any means, but let's not act like we don't have depth to fill.

I mean guys are all for Shawn Marion, but not Carlos Boozer at the same price point?

Interesting. Let's see.

Getting better on D. Check

Getting younger. Check

Spreading the floor. Check

Let's flood our roster with more undersized PF/Cs. Check

The only reason the Heat would do this is to help Chicago. Boozer will (a) take roster space (b) take salary (I don't care if it's min or not) and (c) hurt us on defense. Boozer would be a DISASTER.

He'd sign for the vet min as whatever contract he takes from another team is absorbed into his old contract, it just means that Chicago has to continue to pay him slightly less.

I'd happily take him at Miami for the vet min, as a 3rd big or a starting big playing about 20-25 minutes. As he has terrible defense which doesn't really help us defending bigs, but he is a good rebounder so he will limit 2nd chance opportunities, and he has a decent jumpshot.

I'm surprise with lots of post here saying no to Boozer coz he doesn't play defense.

But is James Jones a good defender??? But he's with the Heat.

Someone also said in here that it will need more than the minimum, well, if he's amnestied, the Heat can signed him cheap if he wants to play for the Heat plus he clears waivers.

I love to see Boozer in a Heat uniform for the vet. min and as part of the bench.

it's not a bad pickup and the added body in the paint to grab boards is needed, especially if it's at the Vet Min...plus he can be an offensive threat too, so it's not all bad IMO

i'm on board for it.

well, he isnt what we all wish..
but he is better then haslem.

Last year he averaged 13 & 8, who would on our roster do that elsewhere apart from big 3?

He flopped in chicago, because he was signed to deliver as top guy.. but he would be good role player for us.

more jokes from Heat fans.

even funnier how Boozer isn't good enough or us but we've already signed up Lowry and bledsoe alongside the big 3

It's not that he isn't good enough, but he doesn't address any of the issues we have. He's not a good defender at all (in fact he is a negative defender for the most part) and we need big guys who can defend, his scoring is mediocre and has declined in the last few years, his rebounding is the only small positive.

Moreover he takes up roster space and salary that can be used to address our issues. Also, if he stays in Chicago they are weaker. Win Win.
