He's old, way past his prime, about to fall off the cliff, and was never a shooter (what we need next to big 3).

He does nothing for us.

If Marion is one of our key moves, we're in trouble.

Get young, get athletic, get size, get shooters.

People also need to realize that old players are a gamble. They come cheap for a reason--you never know when they're going to fall off a cliff and just become a complete liability. We're already looking at a lot of decline in our core players, we need to actually add some youth to the team.

I was 100% on board with Marion coming back a couple days ago. But having some time to think it over I say pass. Marion and UD have a similar skill set. Now UD is more of a bruiser now in days and Marion always had that shot of his but they are "Hustle play" guys and I would rather take Our guy 10 times out of 10. Miami better off recruiting two centers and a two way wing player. I just don't think Marion is in the cards this go around.

at the Vet Min...it'd be hard not to take Marion. he's proven, even up through last year with Dallas. you get much more out of him than someone like James Jones or Battier at this point in their careers. his defense alone, tho not as good as it was, is selling point to me.

That's vet min is an big if I'm not sure he takes it I do know he will be motivated though. In many circles around here he is a border line candidate for the Hall of Fame another ring guarantees he's in. Let's see what's happens.

We all agree we need new players at PG, C, and SG/SF spots, right? That means at least 3 new players. Who is leaving the Heat? Battier for sure, that's 1. Maybe Chalmers, that's 2. Probably Douglas too. 3. And let's say Hamilton too, since he didn't play a single meaningful minute, although we needed exactly what he brings. That gives us 3, maybe 4 spots. So we desperately need 3 new players at PG, C and SG/SF spot and we have 3-4 empty roster spots. Where does Marion fit in exactly? The only way I would want him if both Beasley and Lewis walk, which most likely isn't happening.

I can't see him leaving the Mavs for the minimum and I think they'll give him more than that. He played 30+ minutes a game for them last year.

He's worth more than vet min. He's still a top 20 SF easily.

Perfect glue guy, exactly what this team needs to rest LeBron a little bit.

^^^ I agree that Marion is worth more than the minimum, and Miami cannot offer more than the vet min for him because of the lux tax, then a reunion with Marion is a long shot.

If he can find his corner three pointer again, he seriously fills so many gaps for you guys. If you guys keep Oden, it will be like he (Oden) has a new son.

I also think its funny that we want Marion as a backup and he just started and played 30+ minutes on a near 50 win team (nearly 3 SRS) that took San Antonio to 7 games, the same San Antonio team that waxed us. And its not like that team was loaded with talent elsewhere. Their 4, 5 and 6 guys in minutes for the playoffs (Marion was third) were Calderon, an old Vince Carter and Devin Harris. Their two best guys were an old Dirk and Monta Ellis.

Carlisle is a hell of a coach. Imagine how different our season would be if they could have won one more against the Spurs.

Marion said Raptors coach Jay Triano plans to push the tempo now that the versatile forward has joined the team. Marion said it will be a welcome change from the more conservative offense he played in Miami.

"The game is supposed to be exciting," Marion said Tuesday as he and Banks were introduced to the Toronto media. "I'm tired of playing that boring style in the half court, watching everybody just go up and run plays, call this play. That's boring. The fans don't enjoy it either. People like to see you get up and down, have high-scoring games and dunks and all that stuff. That's what it's about."

Raptors general manager Bryan Colangelo, who drafted Marion in 1999 when he was GM of the Suns, expects the four-time All-Star to fit right in.

"It's a chance for Shawn to be a little bit more useful to his team," Colangelo said. "I don't think they were fully maximizing his potential down in Miami. That was maybe a system thing more than anything else. I think the system here will work in his favor."

this was also 6 years ago when he was 30, I doubt he would like to play that style now that he is 36
