It's a $6.7 million salary dump by Memphis, so worth the #22 pick by itself.

Question is, would Masai package 20 and 22 to move up into the mid-teens.

I prefer 2 picks in this deep draft. I don't see we are getting way up for better talent, so I rather have 2 average players. And I rather trade #20 and #37 instead of both in the 20s.

If this goes through, Masai Ujiri will have landed two first round picks in a stacked draft for Andrea Bargnani and John Salmons.

 The perspective on that is crazy.

In other words, if this deal goes down I think it means Masai is holding firm on paying Lowry no more than 11-12 mill tops and/or expects to let one of Patman or Grevis walk.

We could still sign Lowry, Vasquez, and Patman to their expected salaries if we add Prince. We'd still be under the luxury tax if we give those guys a combined $20 million. It would be getting tight, though, so using the MLE on somebody would probably be off the table.

That's quite possible. I wouldn't be surprised if it were Ennis and Capela though, or even Inglis and Capela.

If he has chosen two players he wants, he would have to wait till the 20th pick comes up to make the trade. Otherwise you are making the trade now with the hope that the players drops past 20.

Obviously. Those are guys in our range which is why we're speculating about them.

My point is MU will wait till the draft and when the 20th pick comes up to sign off on this trade. Otherwise does not make sense to make it now.

We can waive Salmons for the cost of a million and Prince is making 8 million I believe. Prince is a terrible basketball player these days

Its a good deal but Prince is not better than Salmons in anyway

I would think you let Vasquez go.

No it wouldn't. At the start of free agency, including full salaries for Hanbrough and Amir plus our draft picks, we stand to have about $45m in committed salary. The tax line will be about $76m if I recall. What this trade would preclude is using cap space. We would have about $30-31m in money to spend below the tax line. If Lowry gets $12m, and we add Prince's salary net of Salmon's $1m guarantee, we'd still have about $10-12m for Patman and/or Vasquez before hitting the tax. If we draft a point guard, Vasquez probably walks. If we draft a PF, we might waive Hansbrough and open up a bit of room to use part or all of the MLE.

Interesting - I suspect that having the 20th, 22nd and 37th doesn't really make sense - either they are planning to move up or draft & stashing one of these guys. If they are keeping the pick and drafting Capela with one of them, I doubt we see him in a Raps uniform for at least another year.

Really targeting Ennis hard. I guess they want to make plans for life without Lowry?
On Gerald Henderson vs Derozan:
"Yes. Hendo is quite a bit better than DeMar.
So yes, I do believe he's currently the better player and do project that will continue to be in the future. I would also take Turner over DD."

I think Z-bo is talking about opting out and the Grizz have to pay up to keep him...hence the need to dump some salary.

Not really - Lowry will be the starter but he really needs a back up PG. Lowry can't keep playing heavy minutes like the does (got hurt for the playoffs, but still played)> GV may go, but Casey likes using GV as the SG, so that may take care of itself.

On the court he definitely is. I'm not talking about the cap hit, just basketball.

He might be slightly better, but the point would be to enhance the future by adding the 20th and 22nd picks or packing them to move up somewhat.

Trading Salmons for Gangly Salmons. #22 is nice though. Nightmare teaming Casey and Prince.

I proposed salmons +37 for prince +22. This is even better. It gives major expirings. Plus, it will stop OKC from getting far in the playoffs.

20- Ennis
22-Capela
37- inglis or stokes

JV/mle/Hayes
Amir/Ppat/Capela
Ross/Prince/inglis
Derozan/De Colo/Fields
Lowry/Vasquez/Ennis

Either way, it's a good sign. At 22 there is likely to be someone good available.

Last year of Prince's contract. His production and Salmons are very similar. I would make the trade for a first round pick though with the added money for this year.

What does Bargnani have to do with this?
