Hey everyone, longtime reader here who recently signed up for an account.

I'm guessing the offers of Afflalo for a lottery pick weren't legitimate. He would be worth a lottery pick if he had more years left on his current bargain contract, but the fact is he's a one-year rental who may get overpaid next summer. I wasn't expecting too much, considering what the Bulls got for Deng. Henny took the JJ-Tobias route and traded for an underused young player with potential.

Adrian Wojnarowski ‏@WojYahooNBA 2m
Joel Embiid's seriously in play for three spots in top part of lottery: 76ers (3), Celtics (6), Lakers (7), league sources tell Yahoo.

The Spurs haven't drafted in the first round in over a decade. Surprisingly we have a real chance that 56 nets us a good piece with Henny at the helm Imo.

We'll get Fournier and Vonleh.

I will say this about Rob, he does what HE wants. I just hope it works because the media will kill him if it goes wrong.

media killed him for the Howard trade...he has a plan and its a long game with a much wider scope and lifespan than a media tweet

sure but could you imagine how hot his seat would be right now if Vuc ended up being some bum and the Knicks pick was in the late 20's.

Chad Ford said he thinks Embiid talks in Philly are a smokescreen to talk Cleveland into trading with them and also that Exum is the "heavy favorite" at three. But as we've learned in the last few hours, his info is pretty much meaningless.

He is an asset, but there's a reason that the league is collectively saying WTF.

Who cares what the rest of the league is saying. Obviously we all overrated Afflalo's value around here.

It is just us, its everybody who writes and talks about basketball, its the rumours that say we turned down a deal for the ninth pick or that we are packaging him for the first pick, national sports writers saying afflalo is a top 4 sg etc etc, it isn't like, oh wow, this board is overrating afflalo, if anything this board values afflalo LESS than the national media

Or we need a 2 guard because Oladipo is going to Cleveland for Exum.

So because other people are saying that it makes it true? Not to mention none of those people are even affiliated with actual NBA teams. If we could have gotten the 8th pick we would have. Or do you think Rob just took a worse deal on purpose?

Hmm, 3 of the 5 teams that supposedly have Embiids medical records. Does that mean that its not as bad as everyone was thinking?

If Parker/Wiggins/Exum go top 3, then i say we swing for the fences and take Embiid and team him with Vuc. I mean why not, looks like next year is another tank year anyways (if we count the 2 rookies, 9 players on the team will be under 23 years old!), so why not take a chance on potentially the best player in the draft??

not as hot as if he had taken the Bynum deal that the media was begging for....Henny earned my respect with that move and when media cried and laughed at the JJ for Tobias trade....media loudmouth's don't affect his decision making #true leader

There is no draft.

(Ford is just a mouth piece for agents and GMs to leak "rumors" out to get movement on the board...so in a sense yeah he is lol)

Nobody knows what deals were on the table, but you'd be lying if you said you weren't disappointed in light of all the rumours of better deals being out there. If this is the best thing on the table we might've been better suited waiting til the trade deadline. People can say this adds flexibility, but now if we are in trade talks with a team that wants a vet, we don't have anybody good to throw into the trade

Assuming the Denver deal is 100% accurate as reported, have to assume its a precursor to another deal. Fournier is an ok prospect, but not worth Afflalo at this time. What we do, though, is clear cap space - wonder if it's intended for free agency or for absorbing salary in a different deal?
