I don't get the Huestis pick at all. His scouting reports seem to be very similiar to Roberson last year. Projects to be defensive first player with hopes he can develop a 3. Roberson played good defense last year not only from just watching but espn's drpm stats back it up. OKC need another scorer not another defender imo.

I'm not a McGary fan. I follow Michigan football so I see plenty about him on the Michigan blogs. To me is a player who hustles and benefited from playing with a pretty stacked lineup. I think he is a low ceiling guy as well. Also pretty old for a sophmore and has had back surgery. He does love to wave towels and stuff on the bench so I guess when OKC has home games he can driveup from Tulsa and join Thabeet on the bench and have fun.

I don't see either guy cracking the rotation this year or next(barring a trade) and don't think either of them have high upsides, so kind of a head scratcher.

Christon is a bit different. He follow's Presti's model of what he wants out of point guards(ability to get to the rim). Like Parker, Westbrook, and Jackson, not really much of a 3 point shooter but probably better than they were as rookies. Given his track record with similiar players, I like the pick.

One of the major pluses of Huestis is that his shot isn't broken like Roberson's. He appears to have solid form so it is probably more likely he develops that consistent shot. I think it pretty much guarantees one of them isn't here long term though.

I don't understand how to pick up two totally limited player, when you have so much talent to choose from. Choosing McGary with 21 pick is nonsense. pass on Adams, Hood, Napier, Capela, Hairston, Wilcox, Anderson, McDaniels, Dinwiddie, Early, Stokes ...... am I the only one who can not understand or ...... Presti must be paid to break this team or .....
I really don't get it :banghead:

I watched most of Semaj's games at XU, and the kid is going to be a stud with a few years of working on his decisionmaking and shooting. He makes big shots, is athletic as hell, has good handles, finishes well, and has good passing ability.

I don't really consider that a major plus. Nba staffs can tweak shooting motions. If he was effective I'd consider it a plus but Huestis shot a pretty poor percentage from 3 in college, worse than Roberson. In general Huestis was pretty inefficient scoring in college with a career eFG% of 49%. Roberson also showed he has the ability to defend at the Nba level and is very active on the offensive boards. He is ready to step in and atleast be a defensive specialist. I'm not sure what Huestis is ready to do. I don't expect a homerun pick with the 29th pick but there were some solid prospects that either offered something different than is already on the roster or have pretty high upsides still left on the board.

Looks like McGary and Huestis will be having some sort of press conference at 2 CT. I'll try to post a link to the feed/video when it comes available.

I like the picks, McGary looks like a solid post player and another potential 3D guy.

Maybe next year, out of Lamb, Roberson, PJII and Huestis, at least two of them become able to crack the rotation and stretch the floor as 3D guys.

If McGary can make Josh McRoberts-like contribution, that'd be great. I've wanted a high post passer in a long time and that came with a high post passer who is reported to be a good rebounder and rim-finisher as well. If he's any good, he'll be fitting an area of need of the Thunder.

Encouraged by the draftees.
