B+ ... a guy who can step in contribute right away, SCORE and MAKE PLAYS. We need this badly at PG spot. Already has the range necessary for our spacing needs & is a tough minded irrational confidence guy. Bonus points for intriguing guys like Lebron and Ray.

Wizards:

Grade: F

Our incompetent GM decided that selling the pick for straight cash was a more prudent strategy then at least TRYING to draft a contributor. We only have 6 players under contact, so its not like we don't have roster spots to fill.

F : I dont know why they picked the brazilian Kevin Durant. Someone said he was 2 years from being 2 years ready for the nba. 4 years to wait for a decent player

Worst Draft: Hawks

Really like the Bulls, Suns, and Jazz drafts.

Please explain why the Hawks had the worst draft (I have to hear this). Payne is a Stretch PF/C (love his story) that almost hit 40% of his 3 pointers, can contributed right away plus it gives Atlanta another shooter(!) and insurance if Milsap leaves in FAcy or get traded this offseason (I dont think he is going to get a discount or sign a contract like he did last time).

7'3" center Walter Tavares might be the steal of the 2nd round if he gets develop right (only been playing basketball for only 5-7 years) and getting slash. If he or Bebe gets develop into a decent center, it will push down Horford to PF.

Patterson is good player as well, he's 6'5 and 226...put him at SG and he's a bigger SG in the nba with great size. he was a good but not great defender in college...but the fact that he was a good defender speaks loudly to me! I'm sure he can improve to be a great defender. Average in athleticism but he's a very savy & unique scorer and his above average passing ability makes up for his little to no to average athleticism....also you can tell he has a high BBIQ (Wes Matthews).

Sure Atlanta could got a wing earlier but I think that issue will be look at in FAcy (Deng/SF) plus they have alot of cap space and flexibiltiy. Hawks gets a Solid B for me.

F-

Wiz could have drafted Cory Jefferson and not only did they pass, they pussy'd out and sold the pick to the Lakers. Ernie Grunfeld is STILL the worst GM in the league, but now I get the idea that my worst fears are realized, Ted is a cheap owner and is only interested in maintaining a treadmill playoff team. Wiz might be **** for the foreseeable future until Ted croaks.

I really wanted to end up with Smart/Payton/Napier somehow, but I know Randle was high on alot of boards & I'm just biased against bigs early in the lottery. From a personal standpoint I'd give the Lakers a C, but in reality I think it's an A.

Knicks I'll go A-

Cleanthony was a great value pick. Thanasis is no-risk/high reward ( think he has a relatively high floor for where he was picked). Nice seeing us buy #57 just to add an extra asset but the French guy looks like he has 0% chance of playing in the NBA. Shoulda picked up a guy like Jefferson or Young.

I think he has tremendous upside and has that "homerun" type potential, which is what we need to be looking for imo. Glen Robinson I thought was a tremendous pickup at 40 as well. I always thought he'd go in the late 1st, so to see us come away with him was awesome.

I get there wasn't anyone willing to offer a 2nd next year or anything for our 2nd's that we dealt, but I really am bummed that we dealt them for money just for the hell of it really. IDK. Not that huge of deal, but still.

I sometimes wonder why certain owners can get away with making moves like selling 2nd round picks. And then I read from fans like you, and it suddenly make sense. FWIW, I don't know if there are any other similar situation. But because this particular case involved my own team, I remember it.

In 2011 draft, the Wolves and the Rockets made a trade. Johnny Flynn and #20 pick Donatas Motiejunas for Brad Miller #23 Nikola Mirotic and #38 Chandlers Parsons.

Let that sink in for a second. David KAAAAAHHHHHNNNNNN, the laughingstock GM of the NBA, just managed to get Mirotic and Parsons from the Houston Rockets' supposed wonder boy Daryl Morey. But history then shows that Minnesota ended up with neither player. Why?

Wolves traded Parsons back to Houston for Cash.
Wolves, in a series of moves, traded Mirotic for Norris Cole for Bogdanivic for Lorenzo Brown (subsequently waived) while getting Cash with each step.

When I look back on my team's draft errors, like drafting Marcus Morris over Kwahi Leonard or trading Mirotic for Motiejunas, at least I take solace in the fact that my owner isn't someone like Glen Taylor.

Knicks: A

Two days ago, we didn't even have a draft, now for dumping Chandler's expiring and the worst PG in the league, we end up with a top 20ish talent in Early that is mature and ready to contribute right away. Additionally, we add a couple long-shot prospects in late 2nd. I would also include grabbing Larkin, a mid-1st round pick last season, to our haul. Knicks got younger and better in the past 2 days, all for dumping basically garbage.

Picked up Stokes who looks like a nice 2nd pick. future 2nd for the 35th is pretty good value imho .

i give it a b- only because i think both these guys can help out pretty quick even if they don't have the highest ceilings .

could have been a b+ if we snagged Shabazz and pulled off the cha side of the heat trade getting adams(our main target) alongs with some 2nds all the while paying adams less. Oh well cha cleaned house and got the guys they wanted while picking picks and most GM should take lessons .

Stokes and Adams are two of the guys all the advanced stat people loved. By a lot of models, Adams should have been a top 5 pick. Obviously he shouldn't actually turn out that well, but Adams and Stokes were always going to be steals of the draft. Grizz came away with a solid pair of players, although I'm not sure that they were the best fits on a team that needed shooting and scoring desperately.

Reality is that most teams outside the top 5 or 6 markets have to be run like a business with an actual budger, even the spurs operate within a budget, so the trade of 2nds for cash or future cash is not really seen as a terrible thing. If a GM thinks they can use the money elsewhere to improve the team, or possibly keep from having to give up assets to dump salary, than it is okay.

truth be told that while there are occasionally great players taken in the 2nd round, usually there are only 3-4 rotation guys that come out of the 2nd round, most of the players taken are forgotten within 3 years. So it is not seen as a big deal.

They gave up no assets besides some of Prok's spare change and got 3 picks. It's no sweat if they don't work out.

Markel Brown's one of the better athletes in the draft. No issue taking a flyer on him

Bulls: B-

I like trading up and getting a higher quality talent, but if we had kept our picks we could have drafted Gary Harris and James Young. That would have been crazy.

I give us an A-. We didnt fall for the exum hype machine and instead picked up two, very good players who will help immediately especially on defense.

More like F- I don't know why people keep saying we gained capspace. Den forced Gar to take Anthony Randolphs salary along with both picks. Bulls actually lose 1.6 mill in cap with that trade

even had randolph not been involved we could have saved more capspace by stashing nurkic for a year

as has been mentioned, given the talent that fell to the latter half of the first round, a consolidation trade up to 11 looks bad right now

Rockets C-

Clint Capela - no idea who he is, they say he can be the biggest sleeper in this year draft, at the same time, he can also never play a min in the nba
Nick Johnson - sorry i don't really follow ncaa, hear his pac player of the year, i guess this is another Chandler Parsons in the making
Alessandro Gentile - no idea who he is either, hear he is good shooter, not sure he will ever play in the NBA, Rockets has lot of draft right to international player and still haven't see their face in NBA uniform
