A number of outlets are running with this, saying that Gee is coming to Charlotte and Haywood and Powell are going to Cleveland. Gee has $3M left on his contract this year. How are we saving money on this trade?

Not guaranteed money. He will be cut in all likelihood.

Non-guaranteed when we waive him. It was an under-the-radar cap space move. Cap space will inch up to 19.5 million. If we consider the selling of a 2nd rounder, this move and the attempt to move Henderson's contract, I'd say we're setting up for a pursuit of Lance or Hayward/Parsons or both Lance + Hayward/Parsons.

Free agency is going to be awesome!!!

His contract is unguaranteed, we can just cut him and add 3 million more to the bank

So essentially his final year was a team option?

We'll probably waive him, even if we don't he's not a bad player at a position of need for 3m.

Win-win.

We'll waive him, plain and simple.

I'm okay with Hayward or Parsons, but we really need to avoid Lance Stephenson at all costs.

We did so well last year because of the great chemistry we had, prior to the trade. Stephenson will absolutely destroy whatever's left of that with his f*cked up attitude and straight up childish antics

This guy would make Charlotte the laughingstock of the NBA with all his ineffective, annoying BS

Lance would be a bad influence on PJ, we need nothing but but high character guys around him

I wouldn't be completely surprised if Gee stayed on the team, and we only waive him if we end up using the cap space. That said, there is zero reason to have Hairston, CDR, Hendo, Taylor, and Gee on the team.

Just a thought and another option with Gee.

Trade Gee and a future 2nd rd. pick to the Bulls for Mike Dunleavy Jr.

Bulls cut Gee to gain cap space for run at Carmelo

Hornets get Dunleavy to back up MKG and add another perimeter shooter

Of course if we have a chance at Carmelo, we don't do this

Hopefully we dump CDR and keep Gee.

I just don't think we need either one tbh if Taylor is healthy, I'd rather use the cap space.

:D :D :noway: :noway: This was a brillant move to create more cap space by Cho. Gee will be waived at no cost to us..Cho did the same thing in dumping the 55th pick for cash considerations back from OKC..More cap space.
Yes trading Hendo is a priority now that PJ is on board with Neal.I look for us to trade him to a team that has an aging veteran who plays 2 who wants to upgrade their shooting guard. In return we get a vet who can show PJ the ropes and also we gain cap space.
trade checker 6468714 Hendo for Carlos Delfino and 2015 second round pick from Milwaukee.
trade checker 6468728 Hendo for Foye and Robinson from Denver= veteran 2 and backup point.
trade checker 6868731 Hendo, 2015 2nd,2019 2nd for Corey Brewer
Then sign Hayward or Parsons to start at 3

taylor sucks, it pains me to say, he was horrendous and has now missed so much time.

Cut him if not Gee.

Keep CDR!

I agree. I'd say Gee has proven to be a more proven commodity in the NBA than Taylor in his brief stint, and to topple the fact that he's recovering from a career threatening injury, it just make it that much unlikely that he'll be more productive than the lackluster results he's already put forth

However, I'd cut both for the opportunity to re-sign CDR and sign Anthony Morrow

Morrow is Charlotte to the core but we need to get rid of Neal first.

I can't see how anyone rates Taylor at this point, he was rocking a PER of 6 before he got injured.

Return to Charlotte Hornets
