No. He never had those titles, but he was a powerful coach and had a lot of sway. He often bumped heads with his respective GMs because of it.

But the Knicks didn't hire phil Jackson to be RC Buford. They hired Phil Jackson for his rolodex and his star power. When you think of Phil Jackson you think of 11 rings or Michael Jordan or Kobe Bryant.

Jason Kidd is not Phil Jackson in any way shape or form.

i realize that last part, i was just wondering.

really wish we knew what role we were offering kidd.

Plus the Knicks are the complete antithesis of the Bucks right now. Have nothing of value in the short-term, neither assets nor players. Their only hope is to lure FA.

I always felt the knob-slobbering of the new owners was a little premature...

The most amazing thing about that was that the mod didn't close the thread. It was the guy's first post.

Is this what the Spurs would do?

Then let them fire Kidd. Don't compensate them for something they'll do anyway.

Yikes.
I can't think up a scenario where this doesn't end badly. I hope it doesn't ruin Jabari in the process.

wow good to see you back posting! Remember u from back in the espn days.

I'll give it the benefit of the doubt but I don't like the overall feeling of this move. Cronyism is something we thought left with kohl. If it does happen I hope kidd is smart enough to hire some analytic guys.

I will be pissed if we offer any compensation beyond cash. NJ has no leverage, we shouldn't even have to part with a 2nd rounder in this.

The thing to do here is watch one of our competitors implode & let a jobless Kidd limp back to the Hamptons.

An underrated terrible part about this is that his manner of exit from Brooklyn will make it harder for him to deal with people around the league when he's here. How can you have this guy representing your team to other executives? How can you run confidence scams if nobody has confidence in you?

Seriously I'd love this move if Kidd wasn't such a piece of ****.

Reports are that Kidd is gone. So it's fair that either 2 things have happened:

1.) Compensation has already been agreed upon

2.) He's just let go and free to go where he wants

To give anything up would be stupid.

I want him, but don't understand why we would give anything up.

I agree the nets will want to resolve this promptly. but i would also think the bucks dont want to drag this out with their president and/or coaching knowing they are gone.

id assume protected first.

Are people really cool with this move because people are talking about the Bucks because of it? The **** are you people smoking?

Kidd as coach? Eh. Kidd as POBO? A thousand times no.

Gery should call Sonny Parker and ask him what he thinks about this.
