This is risky but another way we could add talent without having to give up extra assets is to trade Henderson to the Knicks for JR Smith. If his knee checks out I wouldn't be opposed to doing this. He'll be looking to prove himself to hopefully get at least one more decent contract, and we'll be able to use that as leverage to keep him in line. He and Hairston together would add a huge scoring punch to our roster.

Orlando would not have wanted to trade their best player to a divisional rival is my thoughts on that situation.

Our core, is our core going forward, so even if we do nothing, we'll still have natural progression imo.

LofJ have you been smoking with J.R.?

J.R. Smith+P.J. Hairston+Gary Neal...

Just defeats the purpose of the culture we've been trying to build.

O.J. Mayo is like Shane Battier in terms of character compare to Smith.

I'm just trying to find ways to open up minutes and find a better fit to help MKG develop. Smith is crazy, but he's more talented than Henderson. His contract is exactly the same as Henderson, so if we get him to bust his ass and have another year like he did the season before last he will opt out for a new deal with someone else. If we strike out with bringing in guys like Parsons, Hayward, and Stephenson I think it's worth the risk.

I think as a last resort option it would make some form of sense.

Sorry, it was poor humour from me and the joke was directed at crack pipe and not you!

I'd probably prefer Mayo over Smith as a last resort.

Without Neal we have 22 million in cap space and he's easy to dump.

That number gives us leverage with the Melo teams looking to trim down payroll and open up cap space. We can say we're close to being able to accommodate Melo as well so make it worth our while if we were to take on your players and close that opportunity with Melo. It's a bluff but still, every little bit helps.

Kemba/MKG/Melo/McBob/Jefferson

Neal/Hendo/Hairston/Zeller/Biyombo+Vonleh

How good is that team? 3 seed?

2 seed, our bench would destroy the Pacers bench.

Cho should go hard after Melo, Melo+Jefferson is absolutely nasty as a combo.

Would be one of the best high/low post combo's in history.

I don't get it. Is MKG gone?

and you will never get Bledsoe for that kind of money. And he certainly won't be a backup.

I'd also like us to try trading the Miami 2019 second for Jeremy Lin+NOP first+HOU first if we don't feel we can land any major FA.

Follow up by trading a couple of seconds to Philly and the second round hoarder Sam Hinkie for the rights to Micic and leave him stashed in Europe for a season.

Delay the cap space for a year, and use a chunk of it on Kemba+Biz+Micic.

Use Zeller plus all, or some combination of our pick, the NOP pick and Houston pick to trade for Hayward/Stauskas/Beal etc at the deadline next season.

Start of season roster.

Kemba/Lin/Neal/(Micic)
Henderson/Hairston/Neal
MKG/Hairston
McBob/Vonleh/Zeller
Jefferson/Biyombo/Zeller

How good is this team?

Bledsoe will command double that and, as mentioned, wont be backing up anyone. and it will probably take 12 per year or more to even have a chance to land Parsons or Hayward since both are RFAs.

The Parson's situation is an interesting one. Houston just dumped Asik's $14mil contract to the pelicans without taking back any salary. So they could now theoretically match any offer to Parson's up to $14mil/yr and still stay under the Lux Tax

I suspect their plan is to wait for FA to start, match Parson's offer sheet, and then use him is a S/T chip if they can land Melo or Lebron. If they cnanot, they'll just keep Parsons on their roster and keep moving ahead. For Charlotte to even have a prayer, they will need to place alot of $ on the the table and do so early. I dont think Parson's is worth $14mil a year. View him as more of a second fiddle player.

Parsons would fit great here but the odds of prying him from Houston without grossly overpaying appear a longshot. If Charlotte wants him, they should sign him to an offersheet at midnight to get the match clock running asap so if Houston does retain him, Charlotte can still snag a back up plan player before the market dries up

As an aside, I believe Hairston will eventually overtake Hendo for the starting SG spot and will provide some of the floor spacing this team missed.

I prefer Carmelo at SF and LeBron to be the backup PG.

But seriously, MKG at SF. SG is the problem, not SF. So give me Lance Stephenson at SG.

Backup point guard, I'd go with Vasquez or Mo Williams.

I don't think they can match his contract and sign and trade too. Normally the sign and trade happens to the team that offers the contract and it is to keep the home team from just keeping the player. I think if day one you offer Parsons 30 for 3 or so you have a good chance at him. If they keep him they are out of the running for anyone else and he will not be tradable for a certain amount of time.

Moore is a undersized 2, not a true point guard. I'll pass on him.
