As for being POBO? Well no one can speak to how good a President he will be, but the guy's been in the league for 20 years so I think he'd have some idea of how to operate.
All his inexperience, whether he's a good guy or not (this is the NBA though peeps, it is full of d-bags) aside. I think we should all be stoked that a legit future HOFer wants to actually be associated with us! Usually we're looking at assistants, washed out never was pieces of trash and just the very low end of the spectrum when it comes to hiring in the front office.
Whenever I make a decision, I think 'what is the worst case scenario'. The worst case scenario here is that he sucks and we fire him. So on that basis alone, let's give it a swing.
Ur flirting with disaster here tho. It's not that cut and dry "if he sucks, fire him". It's more like, "if he sucks, he's going to fire everyone under him as many times as it takes to save his job". That could last multiple seasons rather easily. And especially the fact he has a personal relationship with the new owner. Mixing business with personal is a dangerous combination and fails majority of the time. Lasry could continue to give Kidd a chance because he doesn't want to "lose a friend".
If this thing doesn't work out then drafting Giannis and Parker was all for nothing. By the time this whole situation was burned down and turned around, Parker and Giannis could either be halfway out the door or even worse, long gone. That a risk I'm not willing to take at all.
2/3 years from now I'd gladly eat crow if I'm wrong but I'd truthfully be disgusted with the franchise if I had to say I told u so...
This has NYK/Isaiah Thomas bad written all over it IMO.
RIP Kobe Forever. GOAT 8-24. Long Live Giannis
