Im not advocating Kidd but I doubt the organization will lose respect around the league for hiring him. In fact, our current assistant GM is pretty shady. Before being hired by multiple NBA front offices he was an agent. As an agent he steered clients who trusted him to an underqualified, drug addicted surgeon in exchange for kickbacks. He also steered clients to a hustler financial advisor also for kickbacks. http://www.csnnw.com/article/morway-sued-fraud-and-racketeering-former-mlb-pitcher-99-settled-undisclosed-amount

Lasry's apparent desire to bring Kidd into the Bucks' new fold led to the power play in Brooklyn, with two people with knowledge of the Nets' situation saying that team officials thought Kidd already had the Milwaukee job in hand before asking for the promotion. The people spoke on the condition of anonymity because of the private nature of the process.

If that's actually true, isn't that pretty much the definition of tampering?

basically.

but most of the time tampering is impossible to prove so it doesn't really matter.

This is a really unsavory situation for a lot of reasons. We do not look good right now.

I wouldn't be too afraid about tampering, Phil Jackson got fined for it earlier this month for his public interest in Derek Fisher while he was under contract with OKC. The TWolves/Joe Smith thing got blew open because they were trying to skirt the salary cap and his agent flipped. Something like this would be a fine, there is no way they could prove anything more.

Was John Hammond really instrumental in getting Jabari to buy into Milwaukee? Jeremy Schmidt seems to think so based on his recent tweets.

He may not be...but, surely, at some unappointed time in the future Lasry and Prokorhov will be playing an intense high stakes game of poker and the chips may be Jason Kidd's life  .

I wonder if the new owners and respective families are enjoying the glamour of having almost every NBA analist bashing kidd's choice and the way this is being handled.

At least they have JayMKE defending them all the time on real, so that's something

Exactly.

It's a bankrupted franchise of sub shops they took over in 2010, I believe. Anyhow, their original claim to fame was oven-baked 'hot' subs. It never caught on for the long-term.

Yeah but seeing the way they came to town they would bring up remember when the national media and every NBA analyst basically thought the Milwaukee Bucks didn't exist and paid absolutely no attention to the town, the team or its players most years. If Kidd does come here, that first press conference is gonna be very interesting.

This is all fascinating and kind of funny to me because we're literally only 24hrs in from when this story broke. The speed at which this is all taking place is extraordinary. This came completely out of nowhere.

WiscoKing13 wrote:My main question still hasn't been answered, what has Kidd done in his entire career to be qualified for this job that separates him from the rest of the former players? More so after the 12 months he's had in BK, what has he done to be qualified for this job?

To offer him this Job makes no sense at all.

The argument for Kidd is he was known as a high basketball IQ player (Larry Bird) who didn't get by based on tremendous athleticism or physical superiority (Michael Jordan, Isiah Thomas, so many others that failed).

He coached the Nets admirably, leading an injured and mismanaged roster to a 33-13 stretch where they were one of the best teams in the league, and advanced them to the second round of the playoffs. Jason Kidd wanted Lawrence Frank demoted, and when that happened, the Nets improved significantly. Kidd was highly criticized for this, but he recognized what it would take to win and he went after it, proving himself to be correct in the end.

Billy King has done a terrible job, a sentiment I think we all would agree with here. Something that Jason Kidd is on board with as well. Kidd understands that is not how you build a roster, and he wants to build one he believes can win.

Kidd is a household name and legendary figure in basketball. He, along with Jabari Parker, bring instant intrigue to a franchise who has been so terrible, their fanbase frequently recounts the glorious 46-36 season in 2010 when they almost made it out of the first round of the playoffs.

As a player, Kidd's teams amassed a 812-579 (58.4%) record in games he played. Those same teams that were so great with Kidd, went 118-167 (41.4%) in games Kidd did not play. Kidd knows how to win.

Kidd played the most minutes for the Mavericks in 2011, averaging 34 minutes per game as the floor general during their NBA championship.

This is a huge risk, there is no doubt about that. But if there's anybody you're going to take a chance on for this, it's Jason Kidd.

Marc Lasry is good friends with Jason Kidd and has a relationship with him that goes back years. Nobody knows Kidd better than him, and if he believes Kidd would be a great fit then his opinion is the one that should count the most.

I am far too sober to ponder the implications of this.

Whats Kidd's beverage of choice? Maybe that'll help me understand this better.

Return to Milwaukee Bucks
