I wouldn't let them have a single pick. Let Kidd go back to NJ and see if he can mend those fences. Of course they're going to fire him.

Yep there are other coaches out there available who are more qualified. Give the Nets nothing

To offer him this Job makes no sense at all.

The argument for Kidd is he was known as a high basketball IQ player (Larry Bird) who didn't get by based on tremendous athleticism or physical superiority (Michael Jordan, Isiah Thomas, so many others that failed).

He coached the Nets admirably, leading an injured and mismanaged roster to a 33-13 stretch where they were one of the best teams in the league, and advanced them to the second round of the playoffs. Jason Kidd wanted Lawrence Frank demoted, and when that happened, the Nets improved significantly. Kidd was highly criticized for this, but he recognized what it would take to win and he went after it, proving himself to be correct in the end.

Billy King has done a terrible job, a sentiment I think we all would agree with here. Something that Jason Kidd is on board with as well. Kidd understands that is not how you build a roster, and he wants to build one he believes can win.

Kidd is a household name and legendary figure in basketball. He, along with Jabari Parker, bring instant intrigue to a franchise who has been so terrible, their fanbase frequently recounts the glorious 46-36 season in 2010 when they almost made it out of the first round of the playoffs.

As a player, Kidd's teams amassed a 812-579 (58.4%) record in games he played. Those same teams that were so great with Kidd, went 118-167 (41.4%) in games Kidd did not play. Kidd knows how to win.

Kidd played the most minutes for the Mavericks in 2011, averaging 34 minutes per game as the floor general during their NBA championship.

This is a huge risk, there is no doubt about that. But if there's anybody you're going to take a chance on for this, it's Jason Kidd.

Marc Lasry is good friends with Jason Kidd and has a relationship with him that goes back years. Nobody knows Kidd better than him, and if he believes Kidd would be a great fit then his opinion is the one that should count the most.

Tell me a little bit about Michael Jordan's career winning percentage too while you have your basketball reference page up....

Yep, no way do we give them a first rounder for a coach while going through a rebuild. Not unless it is us prying Pop out of San Antonio.

I wouldn't even trade a 1st for Pop given our situation, and I think he's the best coach in the NBA.

Lasry would be insane to give up anything for Kidd, let alone giving up a first round pick.

Time to change the poll... Think the results would flip from what it currently is.

On a grander scale, I'd think the NBA would see they need to do something about this going into the future. Its a bit of an alarming trend to have teams openly tampering with each others coaches.

I don't think the Nets fire Kidd for nothing. I think this ends up being a non-story wash.

Probably because we are an organization with a long and proud tradition of giving up valuable assets for bags of flaming poop.

And he insists:

Sources with knowledge of the talks can now confirm that Kidd has only been considered as coach and never as Basketball Ops president.

[tweet]https://twitter.com/ericbuenning/status/483375938278031361[/tweet]

Kidd never requested an executive role with the Bucks. The situation should be resolved in the next 24 hours.

The Nets can certainly be stubborn and refuse to let Kidd go to the Bucks, but they'd have to keep paying Kidd then. If they want to get rid of Kidd and his contract then they really have no leverage, unless there is another team in the league that also wants Kidd. The Bucks are right, if they take Kidd and take his contract off the Net's hands, then there really is no need for any other compensation.

So this is probably why you don't have an aneurism before you hear from both sides. Nets PR had itself quite the 24 hours.

Yeah. What is their alternative? Keep him as a very disgruntled head coach?

I dont think any sane person would want Jason Kidd anywhere near Mallory Edens.

I think that money and pride would be reasons for him to do his job. Him chucking a season would be a fast way for him to lose job prospects in the future. Really just an odd situation for everyone involved.
