Interesting to see how they spin this. I could see Kidd being hired just to coach initially & being named president at a later date once the noise quiets down. Odd reversal to go from everyone reporting that he is in line to become POBO & NOT coach to the exact opposite.

Still terrified at the thought of even giving up a 2nd rounder.

How does this leave Hammond and any future GM? They inherit the Lasry hand-picked coach and have no say when it comes to hiring/firing their coach? Sets up for future turmoil with Kidd going straight to ownership when he doesn't get his way. This organizational culture would suck.
We're going to turn this team around 360 degrees.

Of course he might just be coach, but coach with how much authority? Is he being brought in under Hammond if Hammond apparently wasn't involved in this and had no idea this was going on? Or would he be a head coach with equal authority as the GM and input into personnel?

I'm not seeing how any tampering needed to be involved. It isn't tampering if Kidd brought this to us and we followed up on it with the Nets.

League source indicates Bucks only offering Jason Kidd a coaching job, not a front-office position.

If they want to get rid of Kidd and his contract then they really have no leverage, unless there is another team in the league that also wants Kidd. The Bucks are right, if they take Kidd and take his contract off the Net's hands, then there really is no need for any other compensation.

Yeah. What is their alternative? Keep him as a very disgruntled head coach?

Nets fans insist that the Russian would just demote him to an assistant like they did Lawrence Frank and "stick it to us" by not letting us have him lol

Our owners can't possibly be stupid enough to give in to this crap right?

Exactly. But nah, let's just freak out cuz that's the nature of RealGM.

Isn't it still weird that Kidd would be this connected to the Bucks HC job w/o Drew knowing? Most posters here were originally against the idea of Kidd being HC, so it's not like people should be happy w/ Kidd as HC because he won't be POBO.

So Kidd as coach? OK.

Bring in Livingston and have him start at PG?

So is Gardner still considered a Buck's mouthpiece now that Kohl is gone? Or is he getting his info from RealGM now like everyone else?

I can rest easy as long as Kidd only is being considered for the HC spot.

This just gets better and better. Drew for Kidd - why the hell not. Kidd not considered for POBO - even better. This offseason has been fantastic!

To offer him this Job makes no sense at all.

The argument for Kidd is he was known as a high basketball IQ player (Larry Bird) who didn't get by based on tremendous athleticism or physical superiority (Michael Jordan, Isiah Thomas, so many others that failed).

He coached the Nets admirably, leading an injured and mismanaged roster to a 33-13 stretch where they were one of the best teams in the league, and advanced them to the second round of the playoffs. Jason Kidd wanted Lawrence Frank demoted, and when that happened, the Nets improved significantly. Kidd was highly criticized for this, but he recognized what it would take to win and he went after it, proving himself to be correct in the end.

Billy King has done a terrible job, a sentiment I think we all would agree with here. Something that Jason Kidd is on board with as well. Kidd understands that is not how you build a roster, and he wants to build one he believes can win.

Kidd is a household name and legendary figure in basketball. He, along with Jabari Parker, bring instant intrigue to a franchise who has been so terrible, their fanbase frequently recounts the glorious 46-36 season in 2010 when they almost made it out of the first round of the playoffs.

As a player, Kidd's teams amassed a 812-579 (58.4%) record in games he played. Those same teams that were so great with Kidd, went 118-167 (41.4%) in games Kidd did not play. Kidd knows how to win.

Kidd played the most minutes for the Mavericks in 2011, averaging 34 minutes per game as the floor general during their NBA championship.

This is a huge risk, there is no doubt about that. But if there's anybody you're going to take a chance on for this, it's Jason Kidd.

Marc Lasry is good friends with Jason Kidd and has a relationship with him that goes back years. Nobody knows Kidd better than him, and if he believes Kidd would be a great fit then his opinion is the one that should count the most.

Tell me a little bit about Michael Jordan's career winning percentage too while you have your basketball reference page up....

I specifically mentioned Michael Jordan by name as an example of someone who had success as a player in an opposing manner to Kidd. Jordan did it with freakish athleticism and otherworldly natural gifts. Kidd's success was because of his intelligence. That was my argument.
