^I'm not arguing he'd be a good addition for you guys, just that the "one good season" thing is kinda off-base.

Brian Windhorst on ESPN is reporting compensation both sides should get done today. Nets want 1st round pick, Bucks only offering a package of 2nd round picks and cash.

Enough with the observational posts too, guys. We know that no one believed the OP and it turned out to be correct. We can read.

If maybe we can get a handful of second round picks, then package them with a current player to make a trade/salary dump, then it might work. Or we can turn around and trade 2 of the second round picks for a late first rounder maybe?

Honestly, I would hold those picks closely. They could be valuable.

We could package those picks and get into the 1st round of the draft which appears to be a weak class so far. We will draft in the mid 15s or 20s with our pick or Atlanta's pick. That means we could come away with two 1st round picks without including whatever 3 million in cash could get us in the 1st round or 2nd round.

I would try for a 2016 1st round pick. This season, we should be fine as long as KG & Pierce are coming back. Not sure about 2015-16 season.

Don't know if you already saw it, but they wrote an article about you on CBSSports.com.

How a RealGM poster broke the Jason Kidd story before anyone else
In the history of scandals, there have been many famous figures. But for the NBA this offseason, none may get more hilariously big than Carl2680...All hail Carl2680.

Hope your source can't be traced back to you...

Seriously, a legendarily great decision. A landmark day for RealGM.

On a side note: If you guys get Mark Jackson or Lionel Hollins and get Lopez back fully healthy, you guys have a real shot at taking the TOP spot in the conference.

as a Hawks fan, it pains me, but you guys have a real opportunity here for next season.

Now that we are getting some picks, signing J. Kidd has really worked out well for us.

Kidd's a douche.

But most importantly, props to Carl. There's no doubt in my mind...this is the GOAT thread on RealGM.

121-109 in 3 seasons. turned a 23 win team into a 51 win team in 2 seasons

you want an awful coach, thats jason kidd.

Dude had stacked Warriors team to work with, and underachieved with them. Blatantly didn't prepare his team during the playoffs, because he's too busy proselytizing. Calls ISOs for Jarrett Jack, Klay Thompson, and Harrison Barnes over and over again on crucial possessions in the playoffs, when he has a top 5 player in the league on the court. His offensive playcalling sucks. The one thing I would give him credit for is his ability to coach defense and motivate players, pretty much exactly like Kidd. Him and Kidd are on the same level. There's a reason why GS fired him...they should have done a lot better than they have.

From a Warriors fan's perspective. The players loved him: he is a players coach, excellent at building a strong, united locker room. Implemented excellent defense. Poor offensive coaching: calls out many isos for bad isolation players, failed to make the Warriors a top-10 offense despite their EXCELLENT offensive power. Doesn't call plays out of timeouts and can be frustrating with his rotations (subs all 5 starters out at the same time). Hates to have assistant coaches with too much power or a front office controlling his moves.
Personally I don't think we (Warriors) would be where were are without him. He was excellent at building a strong locker room and implementing solid defense. However, unless he changes and learns from his experience, I don't think that alone, without taking advice from assistants or FO, he can bring a team to a championship level.
I think he can help you out temporarily but don't think he is a viable long-term solution. Just my two-cents. (I do not hate Mark Jackson in any way, just expressing my feelings.)

A lot of what you said can be said about Kidd as well. At least he's a high character guy unlike Kidd. But yes, I'm not big on the Jackson hire. Currently torn between my personal preference for high rising college coach like Ollie or Hoiberg or the more proven coaches like Hollins, Karl and even Messina though not proven in the NBA. I think the Nets prefer the experienced coach with Hollins and Karl being top candidates.

I want George Karl. This team as is, is not contending, at least as anything more then a super deep darkhorse if Lopez was reasonably healthy and Dwill turns back the clock to an at least second half of 12-13 mode.

George Karl at least racks up regular season wins with a fast, fun to watch style with a lot of pushing the ball off turnovers, open deep balls and good offensive sets in the half court. He plays to his players strengths and a lot of low BBIQ knuckleheads have had their best seasons under his guidance even if he couldn't completely straighten them out.

It is true he's had relatively limited post season success, at least in his Denver tenure, but truth be told, he's gotten some stacked yet flawed teams a lot further then maybe they should have gotten, or at least to where they should have gotten.

He's also a hell of a post game interview and juggles the facets of being a players' coach and being a needed hardass pretty well.

Nets are NOT getting a 1st round pick. I just don't see a rebuilding team giving up that kind of compensation.
