Make Milwaukee sweat it out for a 1st round pick if they want him so bad. I would definitely be disappointed if we come out of this with only a second round pick... unless there's plans to flip it and a player for a first rounder.

Gotta work that tampering angle. Only way we can strong arm Bucks to give us a 1st rounder. If Nets don't think we can have leverage (by means of some kind of proof, which is difficult to prove), then we can't get that 1st.

This is hilarious to read as a Bucks fan. You do realize Lasry and Edens have stated countless times that this is a 3-5 year rebuilding plan, which will be done so via the DRAFT. We also just finished with the worst record in all of the NBA. You think we're going to give up (potentially) a top 5 pick next year for....Jason Kidd?
I wouldn't even do it for Phil Jackson or Greg Popovich, let alone a 1-yr head coach.
This is pure comedy. The Bucks would walk away from Kidd so fast it's not even funny if they insist on this non-sense compensation. You'll be lucky to get a 2nd.

It doesn't matter anymore if the Bucks walk away now. If the Nets feel Bucks talked to Kidd before they gave permission (rumor has it that happened Friday night when OP started this thread on Thursday night), Brooklyn can still file tampering charges. If Adam Silver finds that Milwaukee tampered, it wouldn't be unprecedented if he makes the Bucks give up their 1st round pick.

The timeline is really strange. ESPN is reporting that Milwaukee was granted permission to speak to Kidd before the draft even occurred, so therefore, Milwaukee would have had permission before the blow up occurred based on what we currently know. Unless of course this blow up occurred before the draft. Pretty crazy to think this may have all gone down like 5 days ago and the media is just now catching wind of it all and trying to catch up.

We need Carl to testify that there was tampering. He posted on Thursday that Kidd would be the next coach of the Bucks. Nets granted Kidd permission to speak to the Bucks Friday.
This could be a defining moment in the history of realgm and a real assist to the Nets

Kidd met with Milwaukee on Friday. He had received permission to interview prior to that based on what's currently being reported. It sounds like Kidd already had permission to speak to Milwaukee before Carl posted.

Why curse at the Brooklyn front office if he did?

Sources said Bucks co-owners Marc Lasry and Wes Edens met with Kidd Friday in New York City after asking for and receiving permission to talk to Kidd a few days before last Thursday's NBA draft.

The NBA conducted an investigation when we signed AK below market value. This whole thing seems sketchy like Kidd knew he had the Bucks job in his back pocket before flipping out and demanding more control. I think it would be foolish for the league not to investigate this.

And Bondy reported Kidd was given permission to speak to Milwaukee after Kidd was denied a raise/promotion (when he cursed at them). Why do that without a backup plan?

I can certainly see Lasry and Kidd having an "off the record" conversation about Kidd's attempt at a power play to force the Nets' hands.
However, I'll say, all this would be very difficult to prove.

There's no way Kidd went to prok and co with those hilariously ridiculous demands without the safety net of the bucks. I doubt this will be provable, but Silver has been a no bs commish so far, so who knows how this will go down. Hope bk gets a first out of this... Or better yet Milwaukee takes d-will

Re: kidd will get fired (power struggle in Nets front offic
You guys know your not getting a 1st. I know you guys traded all of yours for the next decade but you aren't getting one here. We can wait until you guys fire the guy, we were the worst team in the league while you guys were a playoff team. Who has more to lose?
As for tampering, it's not that big of a deal regardless. This isn't a TWolves/Joe Smith situation where they were trying to skirt the salary cap(by signing consecutive 1 year deals under market value with the promise of getting a huge deal when they could use Bird rights to go over the cap) getting caught when Smith's agent rolled on the scheme. That's a lot closer to the AK47 situation if you want the truth and Kidd and Lasry would have the inside scoop on that if they want to play that game. Phil Jackson got fined for tampering earlier this month, it was a $25,000 fine. Lasry wipes his ass with that money.

Phil was found tampering a few weeks ago and was fined 25K. Theres your standard being set from Silver. Forfeiture of a 1st round pick is incredibly remote.
