It makes sense then why the Bulls showed Gordon was at Game 5 of the Wizards series, shown on the scoreboard and had his highlights played during a timeout. Almost like a mini-peace treaty.

I'm glad that he's not some stiff and actually has some touch.

More than that it seems.

Ok I'm making this as I watch that video. Dude looks imposing when faced with fellow college front lines. He's a man.

I say grow a beard.

Oh I missed this in the agony of the series. Very interesting.

I haven't read through the whole thread, but found this highlight video.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-MqyHqIovvs

What surprised me is how quick he is for a big guy. He especially has quick feet and excellent foot work on his post-up game. He also can put the ball on the floor and drive to the basket with floating jumpers.

===================================================================
Also looked at his profile on DraftExpress:

http://search.draftexpress.com/profile/ ... tow-18409/

He has an 8-11 standing reach (7-0 wingspan) with a 31 in no-step vertical. That's more than enough to dunk the ball while standing under the basket. And it also gives him a very high release on his jumpers.

===================================================================
Like someone else said, the reasons that he wasn't selected earlier are his age and that he didn't break out until his senior season.

But the best thing about him is that (despite his size) he actually played PF in college. And my take on him is that he is strong enough (with very good length) to play center in the NBA in a small-ball lineup. So don't be surprised to see him there. But he's also quick enough to play PF as a low-post scorer, and could probably start for us if we have someone out injured.

This guy is going to have a very long career in the NBA, let's just hope it's with the Bulls.

He looks pretty good in what he produced in college, but I'm extremely curious as to how it will all translate in the pros. I mean, if a player like Tyler Hansbrough can carve himself a niche in this league, I don't see how this guy can't, but we'll see.

from 3 days before the draft
http://dawindycity.com/2014/06/23/chica ... -bairstow/

...He is a bruiser who loves to bang down low. He has a high motor and he challenges his man to get as physical as he is.

Bairstow is able to get to the free throw line, shooing 8.8 free throws a game this past season, good for 4th in the nation. He crashes the board, working well for post position.

Bairstow came to the Lobos weighing 210 pounds. He worked hard in the weight room to eventually gain over 40 pounds. He improved not only his strength but also his footwork. This is a great example of his work ethic...

Defensively, Bairstow is a brute. He loves to get physical. He defends well in the post. He has a solid understanding of defensive concepts and team rotation. Where he has a problem is on the perimeter. He has an upright defensive stand and has trouble moving his feet. He also sags too much on pick-and-rolls.....

Good find mole

McDermott made his home in Chicago after leaving Creighton. The combine was there, of course, so he decided to move their and he ultimately fell in love with the city. Kover has been his mentor, and he gave McDermott some good reports on the city, the players and coach Thibodeau.

I thought this was really good stuff. He has to feel good about being a Bull. Especially knowing that the coach and FO really really wanted him.

Unlike poor Teague, McD and Bear have great chances to thrive here.

Lizard Swift wrote:Why was this guy available at 49? He has good size, his measurements came in good, he averaged 20 a game last year, he looks super tough, and he passes the eye test for having some pretty solid game. His rebounding numbers scare me, but other than that, everything else seems in line. Seems like a guy that should have been a first round talent, his game looks super solid, any particular reason for why he dropped so far?

He didn't really get the attention until this season, where he played great.

Couple that with the fact that he is 23 and is probably seen as a finished product with limited potential, he was never going to go higher in this draft.

His career path can be eerily similar to Gibson's. Obviously, he was taken further down, but a fairly unknown guy who was seen to have a cap on his growth which was reflected in his draft position.

I've always wanted a bruiser off the bench like Jason Smith from New Orleans, but i think we just drafted our version of him.

In case we have to thin out our roster for Melo, this is a critical point that Magilla makes.

Rose / DJ
Butler / Kirk
Melo / McDermott
Mirotic / Bairstow
Noah / Smith

My preference would be to use the BAE on a true PF/C like Kaman or Okafor. But that means no DJ and Kirk at about 28 MPG as a combo guard.

I think DJ, or a reasonable facsimile, is a must due to Rose's track record. There has to be someone, besides Kirk, who can step in and run the show

This is a 100% accurate statement. Not only as insurance against another injury, but to reduce Rose's minutes to make sure he's top-shelf come playoff time. Also, the notion that we need someone who can run the show (showtime!!!!) rather than just eat minutes is also 100% accurate. It is impossible for me to think of a better candidate than DJ (who has already proven he can make it work w/ Thibs) and therefore I would place DJ into the "must bring back" column.

Instead of Denver demanding we take back Anthony Randolph, we should have said that we demand Nate Robinson back.

Yes, I'm still not over him leaving and I want my all time favourite Nate to run the backup point again. :D

OK, if for some reason DJ can't stay (I'm not sure why that would be) but I guess Nate wouldn't be a bad plan B. He also has a track record of making it work. I'm even over 3 years ago, so I guess CJ Watson could be considered plan c.

Bottom line, this individual is necessary, even before Melo.

Not only does Rose have 2 major injuries but I've kept track, and he's had 182 minor injuries. We cannot think that 40 minutes X 78 games = championship. He plays too hard and gets hit too often for that kind of beating. 30 minutes x 75 games looks more reasonable.

This same thing goes for Noah as well (30 X 75). We need a plan there but w/ Taj, Smith and the Bear, I'm thinking we're OK.

There's definitely alot more buzz surrounding Cameron than when we drafted ERik Murphy last year, which seemed like we just picked his name out of a hat.
