why would Utah take Zeller? they already have Kanter,Gobert and Favors

None of them play well at PF and all of them seem more fit for C. They can trade Favors and reload. He has a big contract.

It looks like the Suns are targeting Lebron + Melo or could be Lebron + Bosh.

I would think we can get to Hayward early if he's not the Suns' main target. Hopefully Big Al is working on him.

How realistic is the possibility that we strike out all around and go into the season with our cap space in tact, to be used either to facilitate a salary dump to pick up picks or to use in next year's free agency? I would think we're more likely to significantly overpay than go that route, but curious.

It's possible. I think we'll return with pretty much the same team if we can't acquire Lance Stephenson, just with a few additions like the 2-3 rookies and two new reserve point guards

Because despite all his flaws Zeller is a PF and they are all Cs. He may not be very good now but he has potential as a perimeter defender due to his quickness.

Which is why we should keep him.

Eh. I would trade his potential, which I see as way less than Vonleh, for a quality young player I know can play.

Vonleh will be better than Zeller in just about every facet of the game. They're both PF/Cs.

Trade Zeller while he's still got value, because Jefferson, Biz, Vonleh, and McBob are going to take all his minutes (and rightfully so).

Maybe the new upheaval in BRK will make Shaun Livingston less of a slam dunk to re-sign there? He's still my favorite PG target for us, with Greivis Vasquez seemingly staying in Canada.

Do you think the Lou Williams trade might've put a damper on the Raptors chances of re-signing Greivis Vasquez? I haven't looked at the numbers, but I hope so

I'm going on the assumption Kyle Lowry is out the door (primarily because MIA wants him). That makes Vasquez the starter.

I think Toronto take a backwards slide of at least 10 games without Lowry. I think they still find a way to re-sign him, but maybe you're right. I do recall Vasquez recently saying that he "want to be a starter", so maybe he has some insight

How about Andre Miller? He is old but a rack of basketballs would be an upgrade for us backing up Kemba.

We need floor spacing more than backup floor general that would play 15mpg tops.

Just play Neal at backup PG if we have to.

It would give minutes to Hairston at least.

Trading for Jeremy Lin would also make sense at this point imo.

8m on the cap but 14.5m in reality.

Whoever takes him in a salary dump to open up cap space for Melo/Lebron etc will be able to ask for the NOP pick plus another first rounder imo.

we need a backup PG and Lin equals a lot of revenue.

Revenue+need+assets equals a win imo.

I agree, I thought his cap hit would be a lot worse.

If we have no realistic chance at our main targets, which aside from Lance we probably won't, why not just delay our space for a year and use some of it on Kemba+Biz?

I'd rather maintain future flexibility over panic signings.
