Just saw that. We better stay firm on that second round pick. I'll be livid giving up a 1st rounder for him.

A rebuilding team should never give up a draft pick. 1st/2nd...doesn't matter. Those are valuable assets and guys like Redd, Boozer, Arenas, Millsap, Marc Gasol, Ginobili, etc. were all picked in the 2nd. Don't discount those picks.

I'm definitely not discrediting second rounders, but they don't hold up as well. I mean Brooklyn just bought three of them. A first rounder would be crippling to our rebuild. A second rounder not so much. Especially when we have a bajillion of them.

According to most here we just wasted a very high 2nd rounder on a guy who has no future in the NBA in O'Bryant.

Of course we tampered, but it won't and can't be proven. Kidd and Lasry are boys, I'm sure they have been talking for weeks about this. That in and of itself is tampering. Or maybe before they were officially owners, they spoke and already had a plan. We simply will never know, or at least won't know until we watch it on the "extra's" disc on the 2017 championship blu-ray. :D

Are you kidding me? An "extra's" disc of the Bucks 2017 championship on blu-ray? Be realistic, that's never going to happen.

Blu-ray is a dying format. We will be watching the behind-the-scenes championship run on Netflix.

I was joking.

Pretty sure he was too.

Just listened to Andy Katz on ESPN, he's reporting the negotiations are now being handled by John Hammond and Nets gm Billy King.

If Jason Kidd is John Hammond's guy, then I feel completely different about this. If the GM got to pick this coach, and they are simply using Lasry's connection to land him, then I am fine with all of this.

I'm just worried that Hammond will crack and throw more than 1 pick in the deal

loaded is a generous way of describing that team.

the hype before the season was huge, definitely a contender

Just because the hype was huge doesn't mean they were a contender. That team was never a contender despite all the pimping.

They were doomed to roughly what they ended up as once it became clear that KG was done and Lopez got hurt. With an old and broken KG and no Lopez, they had a mediocre pool of suck to choose from amongst their bigs. All of their bigs were basically 20 minutes tops type role players, but they somehow turned it around and won at an extremely high rate.

Things were disastrous for Kidd and the Nets at the beginning of the year, but he ended up getting a ton out of a team that was extremely flawed.

Am I correct that nothing has transpired in the past 20 pages?

They are in for a Rude awakening if they think they can just hold out on negotiations until we give them a 1st.

Eh, I don't get that at all.

Let's be honest. If they had given Kidd the kind of control he wanted, he would be in New Jersey. I think the Bucks are a better situation given the age of their roster and our future assets, but Milwaukee is a fallback option for Kidd.

Why make the assumption that Kidd wanted large amounts of control?

John Hammond handling negotiations was mentioned in the ESPN article from earlier today. That's not really breaking news. Hammond was the one that said it's a 2nd round pick or we're walking.

It is mainly everyone buying a story clearly being sold by the Nets and equating our new owners with Herb Kohl.

This is the reason that I said we have no idea what's going on so lets no overreact. All of this "meddling owner" stuff seems a little premature.

Why don't you buy that? He can go home once a week to see family and friends. He seems really close to his dad, who could easily see 40+ games between Milwaukee, Chicago and Indiana. There's a big difference from living 90 minutes from your family versus a 4 hour plane flight.

Furthermore, to counter your point. Toni Kukoc would race his sports car down 94 every day to the Cousin Center from his home in northern Chicago. Part of Jordan's interest in the Bucks was the proximity to Chicago.

Great. Hammond is going to give them a 1st round pick and OJ Mayo, and then congratulate himself for unloading Mayo.
