He's already under contract. Let him stick around until you have found someone to replace him like every other job on the planet. Why pay him to not be there when you can pay him to be there while being up front with him about the fact that his job is very much up in the air? Hammond has been frank and stated publicly that he doesn't know how long he is going to be a part of the organization. You can sure as hell bet that Drew knew he was in the same place. The writing has (publicly) been on the wall for both of them since the sale of the team.
Keep him on and put in a good word for him for fulfilling his contract when he interviews elsewhere.
