I'm not delusional, I'd bet my car on the fact McLemore doesn't come here in a smith trade.

For arguments sake however, I think he would be a great prospect to have! I know he struggled with his shot but that form is way to sexy not to eventuate. I think his potential is attainable (a Ray Allen light I believe) and having both kcp and mclemore would be a dynamic duo for us. I would feel better about the draft if we could get this deal done

We could use KCP in a sign and trade with Utah for Hayward and roll with

Andre Drummond / Josh Harrellson
Greg Monroe / Jason Thompson
Gordon Hayward / Kyle Singler
Ben McLeMore / Jason Terry
Brandon Jennings / Will Bynum

We'd be thrown a huge bone if Sac threw in McLemore in a trade for just Smith, meaning it will NEVER happen.

me too. When KCP was getting time and no shots, he had his motor set to continual hustle. He was shooting the passing lanes when he wasn't shooting the ball. McLemore will probably be a good player at some point, he didn't show the defensive instincts KCP put on display against top opponents.

I'd be much more interested in Stauskus. Whether that's a reality or not, I think he will be the better pro, despite lacking McLemore's athleticism.

McLemore is off limits. However, Stauskus may be available.

Holy $%#@ I'd rather have Stauskas anyway.
Comments to rationalize bad contracts -
1) It's less than the MLE
2) He can be traded later
3) It's only __% of the cap
4) The cap is going up
5) It's only __ years
6) He's a good mentor/locker room guy

OK but let's make it shooting guards that can actually shoot. (ducks)

I'd take that deal every day of the week and twice on Sunday. I'm pretty high on Stauskus, and didn't feel he was much of a reach at 8.[/quote]

That's a very doubtful statement that runs against everything I've read about the Kings this year. McLemore was pretty awful this year and he couldn't have been traded for the 9th pick this year, no way his value is lower than Staukas' right now.

I don't think the Kings want to give him up--most rookies are pretty bad and you don't give up on a project until the 3rd season at minimum--and Josh Smith and his huge contract are not a good return in any deal. But there's just no way that Stauskas is much more available than him now.

League wide, he may not be. In my humble opinion, he is.

'Available' not 'valuable.' Don't think our opinions have anything to do with that. (BTW, I could be wrong about that and the Kings might be really cool on Stauskas...but it wouldn't have made any sense to draft him at #8 if that's the case.)

Does anything the Kings do consistently makes sense?

Its not like teams use depth and I've often complained the pistons had too much young talent.

If the PIstons do this and get Ben Mclemore, while keeping KCP. I would hope that they would push each other because they are realizing they are not getting handed spots.

McLemore's future does not look great:

I would hardly mind getting him in a Smith trade however.

He's a low IQ player with elite athleticism and good shooting mechanics. That's the bottom line right now. I doubt he becomes the player Ray Allen or even the young Bradley Beal are.

Agreed, but isn't that something that can mostly be negated if he plays in a good system with stern coaching and set plays for him? I think he has some upside.
Detroit vs Everybody by way of Belgium.
