Recruiting makes you a leader? I think people are reading far too much into this. Melo more than likely already has his mind made up as to what he wants to do.

If you were the leader of a team, and your team was in the process of bringing in another core member, wouldn't you want to sit in on the meetings?

It's just odd. I'd want to sit in, I'd want to at least make the appearance even if I wasn't going to participate.

Yes, it's the same path that many have mentioned on this board. Boozer, Dun Dun, ungurauntee contracts and draft picks and maybe even Snell.

Well, to get the Knicks to take on Boozer just for a couple low picks(+ give up on Melo) you need to convince them they'd otherwise lose Melo for nothing. So 'the path' needs to include a scenario of signing Melo outright. Perhaps we'd count on that scenario being Melo signing with another team, hoping that would scare the Knicks into dealing with us.

Taj definitely has to be a Bull next season. We've brought in a lot of shooting and will probably bring in more. Combining it with Jo and Taj's defense is how you win championships.

I will be pretty upset if our instance in keeping Taj Gibson costs us Carmelo Anthony. Hopefully we can convince Melo to take less or NY to do a sign and trade.

We can if Melo agrees to a pay cut.

I dont know if asking for a pay cut helps us. Houston can offer him the max without a S&T.

If Melo does end up coming I'd be emotionally ready to hand the team over to him.

He is not a perfect player by any means but Rose is just too unpredictable and isolated for the job.

Melo does one thing for sure and that is produce buckets on the floor.

Maybe the Rose outburst was just a cry for attention from the Rose camp.

Dunleavy, Randolph, and the non-guaranteed deals only add up to around $9.2M. How can we get a $20M S&T for Melo out of that?

I don't want to throw around conjecture much but imo it's possible that Rose feels like a failure, and that is the reason he won't recruit now. He feels like he failed to bring a championship to the team as the man, he maybe blames himself for Deng being dealt, and he blames himself for getting injured and disappointing all his fans. There might be a little bit of resentment there towards Melo, that he might come in and upstage him a little bit.

There's no indication that is the case but it wouldn't surprise me, it would make sense given Derricks nature.

Boozer would be part of sign and trade.

IF we can't sign and trade Boozer this scenario works and is the most likely scenario. NY only takes on $5mm in salary in that scenario it's much more likely they agree to that S&T deal without Boozer than one with him. We would also have to provide fewer incentives since NY is not taking on as much salary.

Derrick just isn't comfortable in those settings, Jo and Taj are. They can handle it. Derrick has never been good at socializing, he doesn't go out, doesn't really have fun at all-star weekends, isn't on social media. It's just mot his thing. Jo will take care of it.

Randolph cant be included in any trade before 60 days. Also, No team is taking on Boozers deal without heavy incentives. Like 2-3 first rounders. If that, and they dont ask for Taj or jimmy too.

Two bad mistakes in the two days before free agency. First Derrick goes and runs his mouth about maybe not playing for team USA, allowing future free agents to further doubt his health. Then the Bulls decide to have Taj in at the recruiting pitch, which means they can't in that meeting offer Melo the option of how much money he could make it Taj was traded. You didn't cover all your bases, Bulls management.
