Go ahead took a look

But hey only trolls talk bad about Rose...give me a break

Saying you have something in common with the dregs of espn comments section isn't a good look. Just saying...

That just one spot you can go read yahoo cbs sports comments etc but I guess everyone is a "dregs" besides a few of you guys around here right

Yes, those comments sections are generally filled with trolls. Not many insightful thoughts come out of that. There isn't much discussion going on as much as name calling and just general trolling.

and yes what you are doing is trolling.

All I'm saying is you are better than that. In the end I guess you can do what ever you like.

Seriously guys, enough is enough. Go back to the topic and stop focusing on the posters.

Im sure they want to keep both but realistically Taj is the only good piece we will maybe trade for melo. Outside of maybe Jimmy. And Dunleavy was a given.

We can if Melo agrees to a pay cut.

I dont know if asking for a pay cut helps us. Houston can offer him the max without a S&T.

Yeah but there is a big difference between getting out of the Western Conference and getting out of the Eastern conference. The road to the Finals is much easier in the Eastern Conference.

I hope you're right. I haven't done the homework (sorry, teach), but aren't there a few teams (I'm thinking Philly off the top of my head) that have a ton of cap room and no real plan to use it on anyone just yet? Would any of them be willing to take on Boozer for just the one year? Philly has Thaddeus Young - if they didn't I'd say it actually makes some sense - they can let Booz play 30+ minutes and try to pile up stats in the hope of getting one more semi-lucrative deal next summer as a FA, while not damaging their own cap space or trying too hard to actually, uh, you know, win, ahead of schedule. Are there other teams that might be thinking something like this and willing to take Boozer off our hands?

Orlando has been taking steps to clear space with the Afflalo deal and waiving Jameer Nelson and Doron Lamb.

Hmmm. You'd think they would be inclined to just throw Gordon out there and let him learn by trial and error rather than trotting Boozer out there to stat pad and bum slay, but they could make some sense if they're angling for next year's FA class and not this one.

We'll just have to see what the Bulls have in store, I guess.

Boozer could serve as a mentor. The guy may not be great, but he did use to have a money jumper and he knows the offense side of the game.

Amnesty Boozer, then S&T Dunleavy, Randolph and the non-guaranteed deals for Carmleo, Carmelo also gets a starting salary of $20mm in that scenario

Dunleavy, Randolph, and the non-guaranteed deals only add up to around $9.2M. How can we get a $20M S&T for Melo out of that?

You can't use Randolph in a multiplayer deal. If you want to trade him it has to be in a separate deal.

I will say this, if the Bulls do plan on giving an offer of 16.4 million, Melo will cross them off the list that day. You guys need to realize, he's willing to give up money to leave NY, but not that much money. Any realistic deal with him starts at 20 mil.

Exactly. He'll smile and say he will consider the offer giving the bulls false hope when in reality he already crossed them off the list. Get to as close to 20m as possible

There might be a little bit of resentment there towards Melo, that he might come in and upstage him a little bit.

There's no indication that is the case but it wouldn't surprise me, it would make sense given Derricks nature.

I don't buy the "Derrick feel like a failure so he is not recruiting" logic. He had no reason to feel like he failed in 2010 yet he still refused to recruit. I can see the possible resentment towards sharing the spotlight with another star though. It's that and the fact that he just doesn't have any interest or desire to recruit.

The Bulls have to know this right? The aura of playing in Chicago isn't worth taking that big of a paycut. I hope the Bulls find out quickly whether Melo is in or out so we can move to our supposed long list of options.

If we get Melo, and assuming 4yr deal, our window is now the next 4 years.

By the time its over, Mirotic will already be 28 years old. We'll be ready for a new generation of talent to take over even younger than him by that point, I don't see it as some incredible loss if that is what it takes to become a legit contender overnight.

Unless he becomes the next Dirk that, even at that age, would singularly be able to carry a rebuild as the main guy himself for several more years yet. But I highly doubt that will be true.

Butler should be expendable. How does dealing Mirotic factor into this?

Wanted Melo back in Denver

Wanted Aldridge last offseason

Wanted Joe Johnson & D-Wade in 2010

This notion that D-Rose doesn't help in recruiting or doesn't want to share the spotlight is just a little silly.

No offense you to my friend...

Tempted to say Melo will be taking the last second shots now. Historically, clutch as hell.

Then again... its really a tough one. Rose has pulled off some great plays late too, and if he has Melo as a shooter, even better chance to make the right play.

This tactical choice has been bothering me lately.

From what I've heard, they plan on making an offer around that amount, but are willing to negotiate. I think it's stupid though. Hey Melo, we think you're the perfect fit, but we're going to give you 2nd tiered star money as our offer out of the gates.

If the Bulls trade Butler for cap space, then the max amount they could pay Melo would increase by about $1.5M (the difference between Jimmy's salary and the cap hold that would replace him). Mirotic is put off until next year.

I can imagine a LOT! Derrick breaking down the defense can either take the shot or dish off to Melo who has a mismatch.

Taj will recruit. He'll be at Melo meeting (with Noah)

Post#500 » by Darius Miles Davis » Mon Jun 30, 2014 11:38 pm

I've been wondering who could be an affordable defensive PF if Taj has to go in a S&T for Melo. Well, it could be Ekoe Udoh, now an unrestricted free agent:

@YahooSportsNBA: Ekpe Udoh becomes unrestricted free agent: The Bucks declined to give Ekpe Udoh a qualifying offer. http://t.co/IRE0I04f6I #NBA
