"he WILL get injured and PROBABLY never play at his 2013-2014 level ever again"

Can you also tell me who the Raptors WILL draft next year cleo? lol

"He's an INJURY PRONE player"

He has played in 85.5% of the games in the last 5 seasons...

"Feels kinda like Calderon circa 2008 all over again"

BC and Masai are completely different GMs.

PS: Check his per 36 numbers for last 4 seasons. Surprise, they aren't TOO different.

Not incredibly different production.

Except his efficiency skyrocketed this past season.

TS% last 3 years:

56%
54%
57%

I'd hardly call that skyrocketing.

Fair enough. However, it was a more than marginal increase. Combined with his improved jumpshooting, he lowered his turnovers, pumped up his usage and had by far the best offensive rating and win share of his career.

F U GRANGE

Sorry but a guy like Grange has way more Rap sources than Aldridge. I respect Aldridge, but Grange is better well connected in this case to know what is happening with Lowry.

Grange clearly said in the interview it was a prediction though.

Then F U OP, for making this thread, and starting these shenanigans via twitter because you have a hearing problem.

I love Fatty, really do, but he's about to get paid and it's all downhill from there...

I'm crossing my fingers for a 4/40 contract. I'd be very pleased with that and so should the team and Lowry.

If Masai can trade Rudy and bargnani, he can get rid of any contract. Don't worry

Have you guys even been fans of the Raps for the last 10yrs? Do you actually know how the CBA works? How many times do you want us to shoot ourselves in the foot...

I swear I am starting to make a list of all posters who thought paying Lowry 12m+ a year was a good idea & didn't matter much...

In 2 years if Lowry either reverts back to old self, can't live up to his contract, becomes untradeable, or hinders us from having enough space for another Free Agent I don't want to hear a word about you crying about Lowry... All of you guys/girls have been put on notice... Your crying, complaining, armchair gm'ing, hindsight is 20-20 player card has been pulled...

Saw all this same crap when we resigned Bargnani, when signed Hedo... Majority of people thought it was good deals & then later start to bitch about... All I am saying is later on down the line you better own it cause few do on here

This.

raptorsfan24 wrote:Typical Raptor fanbase who can never think rationally, this right here is why you guys always get disappointed and angry at players.

You guys seriously think Lowry will live up to a 11 million per year contract when he is 32 to 33 years old.

Give me a break.

How many actual players live up to he entirety of the contracts they sign? Unless you're talking true superstars not many do. Most NBA players are overpaid based on where they slot in. It's the nature of the business. You still have to put out talent and Lowry is a talent. Who cares if he's living up to it at 32-33, that's exactly when he becomes a huge expiring deal.

Masai has shown a great ability to draft and acquire assets. He's always getting quality. If you've got better options over Lowry and how to execute then propose them. The constant whining though is a bit ridiculous. Sure Lowry is probably worth around 9 million in an ideal world. But in this world with free agency and other teams bidding and letting your asset get to FA, there's a premium paid.

Even at 12 million for Lowry it's not a cap killing deal. What always kills your cap is when you fill your roster with Landry Fieldds types that are overpaid and not producing, not the Kyle Lowry's of the world.

We tend to get too caught up in the numbers, if you're willing to go to 10 million per season then what's another 2 million. This is not just about keeping a guy that is a core piece, not a superstar but a core piece. It's also about asset management and you don't just let a quality player go so you can have the likes of Norris Cole coming back.

That's poor asset management. Every contract is tradeable and Masai has shown he can trade guys and will act quick if he doesn't like what KL is after signing the deal.

We quibble over these couple of million dollars but they aren't cap killers or going to limit us from making other moves.

If that were to happen... I'm pretty sure it's not very hard to dump an end of bench player making that kinda money, to make room.

It in itself would not be a catastrophe. But overpay 5 players by 2 mil each and now you can see the problems that begin to emerge. Maybe that would not happen, but the 12/13 range for Lowry would make me start to be concerned.

To build a team like MU appears to be doing requires *both* smart picks and smart cap management, with little wiggle room for error.

I know what you mean, but there's a difference when you're talking about your best player, and your 7th and 8th men. As has been mentioned, in this league you generally kill yourself when you start overpaying too many role players.

In threads like this? Yes. :-D

Ozzy will save us with the merge!

Lol seriously bro? Nobody's holding a gun to your head forcing you to click and read this post

So, if I made 13 independent Lowry threads right now wiping all the other good threads away from the front page and scattering what should be focused conversation in one thread for multiple opinions you think it would be better for the board?

Thread #1: Why we won't regret a Lowry deal
Thread #2: 13 reasons why 13 million is fair for Lowry
Thread #3: Mythbusters: A closer look a Lowry's injury history
Thread #4: Why we will always have to overpay in Toronto
Thread #5: The official celebration thread for Kyle Lowry
Thread #6: Are you more likely to buy a Kyle Lowry jersey now that he's signed?

And so on...

Most of that has already been discussed in the other Lowry threads in responses.

When the second post in a thread has the most And1s simply by questioning the value of the thread it's usually a good sign it wasn't necessary. You'll get views. You'll get responses. You did make a bold statement designed for both but it's also something that's been said better in threads that have been around longer. Many of them, in fact.
