Have you guys even been fans of the Raps for the last 10yrs? Do you actually know how the CBA works? How many times do you want us to shoot ourselves in the foot...

I swear I am starting to make a list of all posters who thought paying Lowry 12m+ a year was a good idea & didn't matter much...

In 2 years if Lowry either reverts back to old self, can't live up to his contract, becomes untradeable, or hinders us from having enough space for another Free Agent I don't want to hear a word about you crying about Lowry... All of you guys/girls have been put on notice... Your crying, complaining, armchair gm'ing, hindsight is 20-20 player card has been pulled...

Saw all this same crap when we resigned Bargnani, when signed Hedo... Majority of people thought it was good deals & then later start to bitch about... All I am saying is later on down the line you better own it cause few do on here

This is awful.

Lowry has been worth this contract since his last year in Houston. He will remain in his prime likely until the end of a four year contract. On the open market he is grabbing 11 million per minimum. He was EIGTH IN THE NBA in win shares. He was robbed of an all star spot and an all NBA mention.

Do YOU know how the CBA works? The cap and average salary are going to skyrocket with the new TV deal, the average salary will probably be reset near 7 million. Lowry should be getting one or two million more than that? Good luck keeping any quality player with that mind frame. If his contract is at 12 mill he won't even be paid as a top FOURTY paid player in the NBA. Name 30 players better than him. If he plays close to the level he did last year this contract is a steal. The only way it wouldn't be (at worst) fair is if he gets injured or gains 30 pounds. Speculating that he will is just that: speculation.

Hedo was a head case who grabbed a massive payday from one playoff run. Bargnani was never good. Making these comparisons is pure paranoia.

-After 2016 is when the New TV deal is up, yes the hope is that BRI (Basketball Related Income) goes up, hence the Salary Cap goes up but really right now that is how you say... Speculation

-IF is the key word when you said "If he plays to close to the same level he played this last year"... Speculation? I have seen more cases of players with one off seasons not living up to there new deals then I have seen players that continued there production...

-Do we know for a fact that when it comes down to it that MLSE will go into luxury tax, cause right now that is still... you guessed it... Speculation

-Where is the open market for Lowry that affords him 11m yr easily?? Who??? Orlando just drafted their PG... LA, Hou, & Mia are all going after bigger targets with their cap space first before they look to Lowry so I think that is a bit of... Speculation

-Here's something that is not Speculation... Our biggest chance of having salary cap space to add to this team is in 2015 (That is before the new TV deal)... Jonas, Ross, & DeRozan will all be up for there new deals before 2016 as well so we have to ear mark space for that too...

As for your Top 40 player comment... No I don't believe Lowry should be paid more then

I wasn't a fan of Lowry in his first year with the Raptors, but last year he seemed to buy into the program (even considering it was a contract year). If he re-ups with the Raptors, (not that my opinion is any better than yours) I believe that he feels that he and the Raptors can grow and compete for a championship.

MLSE (Rogers & Bell) have a lot to gain by making the Raptors a championship caliber team and will want to have the Raptors as close to championship caliber by the time the Raptors host the 2016 All Star Game. I think Lowry and a good number of other players are ready to buy into the Raptors future.

4/$44M is my hope, I don't want to overpay any more than that for Lowry.

Regardless, thrilled if this is true. Happy and relieved.

Giving your star starter an extra 1 or 2 million won't hurt teams. What hurts teams is having 15 million tied at the end of the bench and out of the rotation

Kyle Lowry is really buying into Masai's vision. If he ends up resigning quickly you would think Masai has a plan to add another really good piece.

I'm already waiting for Realgm to declare Caboclo as a bust when he plays 5 mins a game this year. Then during the offseason, people will start comparing him to Durant again.

Haha yah. If we're a playoff team, he probably won't play 100 minutes this season

Hopefully it is under 12million a year. I'd prefer to keep 2pat and Vasquez if at all possible

Hypothetical question: The company you work for sends you to a Northern country but you're only expected to help the operation there for 2 years. The opportunity could be good for you and allow you to move further up the ranks back home. You excel. You actually have a little fun. Your contract is up and because of the great work you did there are now many of the top companies in your field now personally head-hunting you and wanting your services. What's more they're all located in the best parts of the country you're from. It's great for you now and after retirement and your wife loves both of those aspects. But you want to give the guys you got to know a chance. You will stay but for a price.

Isn't that reasonable? Isn't that what all of us would do? How would we react in that situation to a lowball offer from that boss?

Probably not since during the time that I'm working for a company in that Northern country I spend half of my time working in my country of origin, not to mention that I get a 3-4 month vacation every year and make millions of dollars in my profession.

Only difference is said employee was underachieving and butted heads with management and co-workers. It wasn't until he grew up a little and management laid down the law and expectations and had a heart to heart with said employee, that this person understood what he needed to do in his career. He then excels in his role and the company. He should get compensated for performing well, and respecting the management team who provided leadership to him.

Ha! This reminds me of my parents when buying a new car:

"So it's won JD Power & Associates Best in Class for 5 years running, it is on of the most reliable cars in terms of lifespan AND safety, and looks good too?

I won't pay more than $6,000. Final Offer."

Personally I saw screw the home town discount BS. Players have a limited time they can make money playing the game. They should not be bashed if they want the biggest contract possible.

That is how these superteams come into existence anyway. Guys taking less to team up. F that. Competitive people want to win and to be the highest paid and to win while getting what they deserve. That is what brings parity to the league. That is what is supposed to give teams that save up salary cap to be able to get good players. That is what is supposed to give the advantage to home teams that can pay their guy more than the competition.

Lowry should sign with us and we should pay him market value. That is how it is supposed to work.

Even when talking about the Spurs, those guys all bought in to lower contracts after winning a championship. It's easy to do that when you're at the top. We can't expect nor do I want Lowry to give up his chance at his biggest payday.
