@ramonashelburne: Add two teams to the expected Pau Gasol market: Phoenix and Atlanta. Lakers, Knicks, Bulls, Mavs, Rockets all expected to pursue.

I could see us offering 12 mil per. Same as Lowry is rumored to get.

I hope not. Not until he at least gets offered close to that.

At least that's how I read into it.

LeBron doesn't want max years. As a matter of fact, he wants a contract in which he has the flexibility to opt out after the 1st or 2nd season.

Is that allowed? I thought you couldn't add opt outs until the 3rd or 4th year. Something like that.
Regardless, I'm sure he'd sign the max deal (years) he could and just opt out early if he's no happy.

He isn't an All-NBA defender like Allen but he holds his own against most opponents, he's versatile offensive player and better rebounder. Allen also signed his mutli-year deal at age 31 where as Tucker just turned 29 and doesn't have a serious knee injury in his history.

I think it's the big man situation. Unless Len is ready to go, we'd be a small team when playing teams like the Spurs, Griz, Houston, etc.
I'm not keen on Love, but he would fit the team better I believe than Anthony, with James. He can rebound and space the hell out of the floor.

Actually he wants max money per year. Just wants a shorter contract. He wants to be the highest paid on the team. So in a sense he does want a max contract just shorter years. So pass warden is half right.

I meant the lakers. I firmly believe the suns would be way better. The article was about the lakers wanting to add melo and lebron. I was referring to the lakers when I said they wouldn't be dominate. Suns have way more and would be better. Sorry lakers fans but Kobe and lebron in 2014-2015 just isn't that scary. If it were 2010, yes that would be scary.

He is not going to get a lot of money from GSW or Portland. They have only MLEs to offer and he would definitely be a reserve on both of those teams. He may not get more from the Suns, but he would have the opportunity to start.

JD - you are good with the cap (or anybody that knows this answer). The Warriors have a TPE - could they execute a sign and trade with the Suns - IF they wanted to go higher than the MLE? Meaning the Suns would get back the TPE and a first round pick? I know you cannot combine players. But if GSW wanted to go higher than the MLE - package the TPE and draft pick for Frye - if the Suns were inclined

You can do a trade into the TPE for more than the MLE, but the problem is that the TPE expires July 10th. The Suns could take back a player or a draft choice or both. The advantage of a sign and trade is the team would preserve the MLE for another player.

"I guess the Suns got some good news today when LeBron made it clear that he's only going to accept the max contract," Windhorst said. "That put a lot of pressure on the Bulls and the Rockets, probably scratched them off the list. The Cavs could probably get there with a multitude of moves.

"But the Suns are one of the teams that has a good team and a max contract slot, so he'll take the phone call, but this thing with the Heat looks like that's where he's going to stay. He's definitely going to wait three or four or maybe five days here to see if anybody can create a compelling situation that would be a good alternative to the Heat."

Jeez, maybe I am just super biased, but how can people not see that THIS is an AMAZING situation for him?! If LBJ and Melo joined the Suns, it would easily be the most talented (and complete) team LeBron has ever played on.

This guy really insulted the Suns. He said the Suns do not have a talented roster and he could not believe that the team was winning so many games and he kept on waiting for them drop off. He called the Suns a smoke and mirrors team. I had never really heard this guy talk but I have absolutely no respect for him after this. Does he not even realize that Bledsoe missed 39 games? Or that Dragic was injured during the most important games of the season. Who is he kidding. No talent? Dragic and Bledsoe are a top three backcourt in the league. Dragic won most improved player and was third team all-nba. Morris and Green were both up for sixth man of the year. The Suns might not have the big superstar, but they have way more talent than guy is talking about. Then he says how the Suns are going to be forced to pay Bledsoe now and Frye might leave. Duh. This guy obviously did not actually watch the Suns. A smoke and mirrors team does not win 48 games with their second best player injured for half the season.

And no I am not being a homer about this. He also said that if Lebron and Carmelo want to team up then they will go to Los Angeles. Why? Just so they can be in Hollywood? Sure, they want to go play with a 36 year old Kobe Bryant who is coming back from a torn achilles and broken kneecap and a 40 year old Steve Nash who can barely play basketball. Give me a break. The Suns might not get Lebron, but this reporter sounds like a buffoon.

He actually sounded perturbed at the suggestion that his meal ticket would consider the Suns. I thought he was somewhat reasonable at the beginning of the interview that he got negative toward the end explaining how a bunch of teams are going to be throwing $10M at Bledsoe blah blah….

JDLAW, you probably know this but now that the Miami Big 3 have opted out, do Miami still have any sort of Bird rights for those three players? And the appropriate cap holds for those rights? Or do they have any particular contractual advantages over other teams vying for Lebron's service?

You are not biased and it is an amazing situation for any free agent however the free agents of this off season are some of if not the biggest Divas in the NBA right now. These aren't people trying to go to a team and be the leader and become the man of their own team. These are superstars trying to group up with other superstars.

Its partly hard to blame them after what happened in the last big offseason. The heat teamed up and won 2 champsionships, The rest that wanted to form their own team and be the man quickly learned that doesn't work when you are up against a super team.

I wouldn't sweat it. People are biased about where they want LBJ to land and obscure a lot of the truth. As fans we're pretty close in knowing that our team is short one big piece to contend in the WC. No one would want to face us in the playoffs even with the roster we have now. If LBJ can't see that or any star for that matter, then let them go hide together in LA or stay on Miami.

I think there's a strong chance the Suns will add someone big soon. And when we do, we want it to feel big for us...for the city...for the future.

Seriously, we haven't added a fan unifying player since Nash came back. No one is doing us any favors by coming here. they should come because they know its the right place and time and compensation.

Return to Phoenix Suns
