Free Agency
Discuss who you hope the Kings sign in free agency.

Also, Sam Amick reports that one source has said IT is estimated to receive offers of $4-$6M per season as a RFA. At that price I say it's a no brainer to keep him.

The main FA targets should be Sefalosha, Bradley and Livingston.

Are you working under the assumption McLemore and Thomas are both gone? Otherwise not sure why we're targeting more SGs after the Stauskas pick, although I suppose Sefalosha can also play some SF.
What do you guys think about PF? Should we go after a passing/floor spreading type in the mold of a Diaw or McRoberts? Or should we be trying to flip some existing players instead? I really think we need a passing/shooting big next to Cousins and Gay to provide them the floor space they need.

Re: Free Agency
With Ben and Nik I don't see us going after Sefalosha. If we trade Ben then I guess targeting him makes sense, however I'd rather go after Bradley at that point and form a Livingston/Bradley duo. Bradley guards PG's on defense, plays SG on offense. Essentially playing our 3 and D guy.

Re: Free Agency
If IT is really going to get 4-6 mill, then we HAVE to keep him. He's too good to not keep him for that price. I agree on targetting Sefo, gives us a vet with great defense (especially if we keep IT).
I really like McRoberts too but we definitely have to get rid of Thompson or Landry before even considering adding more players to the PF position. Still need a defensive big

Re: Free Agency
Kris Humphries is an attainable Jason Thompson clone.
However, the only moves we should make in free agency are re-signing Isaiah Thomas and signing Thabo Sefolosha. Sefolosha would be a huge improvement in the following areas: defense, passing, rebounding, and vet savvy, and the starting five would improve drastically. It would become playoff quality even.
This is not speculation either. It was proven last year with lineup data (see here and here), so there is almost no risk being taken here, which makes it stupid to try high risk free agency moves like letting IT walk or trading him for Josh Smith.
Avery Bradley could improve the team like Thabo Sefolosha, but I worry about having him and IT in the same backcourt because they are both undersized. Still, Marcus Thornton wasn't any bigger/longer than Avery, and the lineup still improved, so I guess Bradley is a viable option.
We could sign Livingston too, but he's more risky than Thabo because he can't shoot, and the lineup data that we have assumes at least a 30% three point shooter, which Livingston is not.

Re: Free Agency
I think to go after a PF we need to move one first. Really aren't any shot blocking types available in FA so my vote would be for McRoberts. Floor spacing big that can pass and shoot.bleeds_purple wrote:SactoKingsFan wrote:The main FA targets should be Sefalosha, Bradley and Livingston.

No multi year deals unless it is a long term piece.

That was my inclination. In a perfect world we slot an Ibaka next to Cousins. Since a guy like that is not available you have to find a compromise. In that light, a passing/shooting big would be nice. #1 if we can dump Thompson/Landry to acquire Smith, I figure why not you have nothing to lose, its just a swap of bad deals. #2 lets try to get a guy like Diaw/McBob who helps bring a cohesive offense with their passing acumen.

Re: Free Agency
Wish we could've gotten in on this before the draft:

If Nogueira is in fact included in the deal, that would've been a perfect combo to fit into the team we're building.

Re: Free Agency
Said it in the other thread, Josh McRoberts is the guy. Perfect stretch 4 who will do what they want: move the ball and spread the floor.
In a perfect world the Hornets might like the stability of a Jason Thompson or Carl Landry and you can work a sign and trade so they can then use the MLE on someone like Livingston. But.....

Yeah, unfortunately that ship has sailed. Then again, they've proven time and time again that they don't mind stacking up a redundant position.
At this point, I wouldn't be surprised to see them just stick with it and move on through the summer in quiet fashion. It's really becoming kind of like the same thing every year even with the Maloofs in charge. Just kind of moving along with no real sense of urgency even after they do make a move. Every move seems to be of the variety that needs a quick follow up for it to make sense and the follow up never comes.

I don't know anymore. They have visions of playing Stauskas at PG and that could end up badly for IT. If they had drafted another position or another player I was all for IT at anything near the MLE but right now, I don't think the Kings can afford to take the chance. Yes, they can play together but if the idea is to keep both McLemore and Stauskas than one of IT, Ben, or Stauskas is getting squeezed. You're losing value somewhere out of those 3.

I'm assuming IT is leaving and that having a veteran SG that knows how to play defense will facilitate McLemore's development.

You match anything around 7-8 million... He is a steal on that deal
