Suns are gonna offer him slightly more than what other teams offer him in hope that the Kings match, and thus we f*** with their salary cap. Smart move McDee, playing free agency like a chess board. 8-)

Because McD does his homework on every player.

I remember reading a story that when he was with Boston, they would bring guys in for workouts and interviews even if they wernt real keen on signing them, just to make sure and get a better feel for that player. Also mentioned that it can help when playing against that player, as he might see some of the negatives in the workouts.

McD is a real mastermind and makes sure they study and know all the players in and out that they can.

Don't mind waiting it out for Lebron. Just hope a team doesn't offer Bledsoe first thing in the morning compromising our cap space... Woj just said the big 3's contracts are in place so it's all up to Riley at this point.

We have until July 20th before we need to decide on Bledsoe at the EARLIEST. He can't sign an offer sheet until the 10th, and we have 10 days to match.

Those are not the rules. If a team and Bledose agree in principal to an offer sheet on day one of free agency, Bledsoe's cap hold increases to the amount of the agreed upon offer. If he actually signs the offer sheet on July 10, the Suns have 3 days to match.

Don't forget that there is going to be a boat load of misinformation put out by players agents to raise up their prices. I'm expecting about half of the information tweeted out to be complete BS.

How can that be though? Nothing is signed or official. "Agreed in principal" is not the same as delivered to the league office.

Whooooaaa there.... I was under the impression that Ennis was ready to play. But you know we'd have lots of serious suitors if we wanted to trade him. I'm a little shocked.

...... Dragic available? He'll probably get close to $12 mil next season. IT would be a whole lot cheaper as a super-6th man, though it would dramatically alter our attack.

Since Rich Paul is the agent for Lebron and Bledsoe we should just offer the max for Bledsoe right off the bat to sort of slip a few extra dollars to the agent in order to get Lebron here. If you were an agent I think it would be great to have 2 clients making the max on the same team and have them contend for a championship.

By the way everyone talks about Dallas they have a similar problem. It appears that the Mavs have $23-24M cap space, depending on who you believe, but this is illusory because to get that cap space the MAvs have to renounce Dirk's Bird rights. Once they do that, they have to sign Dirk AND what ever free agent they seek into that $24M. Dirk will take a cut, but not down to a couple of million. This is why Cuban came out and said he would not be offering a max contract this summer. He cannot realistically do so and keep Dirk.

Dallas could do the same thing that was mentioned we could do and dump two of their players (Felton and Wright) on a team (like Orlando) willing to take expiring contracts for picks and get close to $9 million more (or over 10 if they throw in Ledo and Mekel) so many teams can also make moves to open up additional cap space, not just us. Remember this when talking about how much teams can offer because many teams would probably do this for a chance at LeBron. Of course this doesn't change the case of Cuban saying he wouldn't offer a max contract. But they could and pay Dirk more like 12 if they did this, though their roster would be pretty thin too with Ellis, Chandler, LeBron and Dirk. Now that I look at those four players though that looks better than Wade, Bosh and LeBron to me if Chandler got back to form. Those guys are pretty old too though.

Boy, I am tired of explaining this to people. Agreed in principle is an agreement to sign the contract or offer sheet when the time for performance comes due. It is basic contract law. Part of a contractual agreement is the time for performance of the obligation. In this case the agreement is that you (team) will agree to tender me an offer sheet in the amount to $x and I will agree to sign it on the first day the league permits performance to go forward.

An executed offer sheet is a contingent contract that becomes effective if the offer sheet is not matched. Under the CBA you get 3 days to do this.

Just to give you guys an idea how these players basically lie to get paid more.

I was listening to sirus xm, the nfl channel and a former player told a story about how he got a contract he wanted. He said that he didn't get any offers but from one team. The team offered him a $500,000 a year deal. He basically lied and said another team (there was no other team) was going to give him $750,000. The team ended up giving him $750,000 to match. So players do lie to get their money.

Again lots of misinformation out there.

Wow so the Rockets are planning on matching any offer for Parsons basically, so they would have Harden/Melo/Parsons/Dwight. That's a pretty damn good team.

It wouldn't compromise it would it? Wouldn't we have three days to match from when the offer sheet is SIGNED, which is July 8th at the earliest?

Is it the 8th? Dunno why I thought I read 10th somewhere.

It used to be the 10th, but I've read in two places it's now the 8th. I first thought it was the 10th also.

Dallas isn't a threat with Dirk's age and Houston getting Lebron would need other teams help. Suns can say "here's a max contract and pick Melo or Bosh". The Rockets can't even offer a max deal even if they move Lin.

Miami is the competition IMO.

Do not assume another team wants these players. Further you do not get the full contract amount back - there is still a cap hold for the open roster spot. Cuban knows what the score is and he knows he does not have a max offer reasonably available to him.
