OT: New (and old) Magic fans, introduce yourself!

Post#1 » by SOUL » Tue Jul 1, 2014 5:19 am

Have seen an influx of posters that are new or haven't posted in a while lately, and since we're all supporting the same team we should introduce ourselves. Where you're from, what you do, etc.

I'll start.. my name is Nick, I'm 25. Went to Dr. Phillips HS (I'm still salty my boy Chris Warren didn't get to the pros but Larkin did) - aspiring journalist (though not sure - I do know I want to write a novel), not in school currently but work in the hospitality industry. I'm originally from New York and miss it dearly, but I've been down here a while so it's sort of hard just to up and move. Although wherever I go, Magic will be my #1 team.

I'd add a picture but, that would be sort of weird I think. Hahaha.

Sup, my name is Dylan and i am 22 was born in Melbourne Florida spent 15 years there before moving up to Dayton Ohio. My father raised me a Magic fan getting me my first tmac jersey at the age of 8 or 9 and then went to my first game. Absolutely loved Basketball its my favorite sport i think not much comes close except for Baseball (big Cardinals fan because my parents were born in St Louis). I am currently an Electrical Engineering student at Wright State University here in Dayton.

My favorite memory watching basketball was the 2009 Eastern Conference Finals because i got to brag and show up all the obnoxious Cavs fans in Ohio. :)
Fine print disclaimer for Fultz:
I am high on Markelle Fultz. Yes I understand he is not perfect and needs to shoot more and better and turn the ball over less. I would really like to see him play one more year… and I did and he sucks time to move on.

How's it goin' fellas?

My name is Jason, 25. I went to Melbourne High School, I'm an independent business owner. I'd love to someday own my dream bar ( Magic themed ofcourse!). Born and raised here in Fl and been a magic fan ever since my grandma got me into basketball when I was 5 years old. Super fired up and excited for this upcoming season and can't wait to see what the young kids can do.

I guess it's time I stopped lurking? Hi fellow magic fans! My name is Jelani, 19 years old. I was born in the U.S. Virgin Islands but I lived in the beautiful island nation of Antigua for 14 years before I moved to Orlando to attend high school. Surprisingly enough I actually hated basketball at first. This changed when I went to my first Magic game in 2010. It was against the spurs. The magic dominated and I instantly fell in love with basketball and the Magic. I've been a gigantic fan since then. I now study at UF but I always support my Magic.

I've been following discussions on this forum for the past three years and I guess this would be a great time to actually participate especially with the new direction the team is going.

What's up? I'm Nemanja [ne-mun-ya](Nem for short). I'm 24 years old. I moved to Orlando from Serbia when I was 7 and have been a magic fan since. I started posting in 2003. I'm a respiratory therapist at Florida Hospital and I'm getting married in April. I think I picked a winner as she wanted our engagement photos at Amway and the save the dates to be a magic ticket replica.

Hi I'm Arnar, 33 years old from Iceland. Been a Magic fan since 1991 and we're not many here. Saw my first Magic game back in 1993 when the Magic and Hawks had two exhibition games in London. Dreamt about going to Orlando for two decades until finally realizing my dream back in 2011. Went to the Magic-Wizards game on Feb. 16th 2011 and at around the same time as tip-off, the clock hit midnight at home, meaning that I turned 30 during my first ever Magic game IN Orlando. Wanted to see Amway Arena, but just got the chance to see it on the outside but never inside it. Walked around it, got the feel of it... shortly after it was gone. I had the sads. Big sads.

Meh you didn't miss much lol though I do miss it sometimes when I'm walking around this monster. I swear I could walk around the old arena 3 times in the time it would take me to walk around the promenade once. We do have the best arena in the league though :D

Greetings and salutations. I'm frank, and my name is Frank. Been using that joke since middle school. Got old back then.

I'm a Libra. A cuddler. I like video games. Star Wars. And posting pics of hot guys in game threads to promote positive image equality, which makes macho boys and homophobes uncomfortable (a thread was made in my "honor").

I'm 32, born and raised in Orlando. Went to Edgewater High. And have been a fan since the inaugural season. Even if I move outta state, I'll continue to bleed black and blue (I should probably go to the doctor).

Joel, from Israel, 25 years old, Accounting (cpa) student, been a Magic fan since I was 6 and saw the name "Orlando" in the newspaper and decided I like it so thats my favorite team in the NBA before I knew anything about it or about basketball.

10 years later I started to follow the NBA and you dont change favorite teams so Im still very much obsessed with the Magic and dream of coming to Orlando and watch a live Magic game.

P.S, I would trade places with every one of you in a second if it meant living in the US( another dream of mine).

Hola! How's everyone this lovely morning!

My name is Johnny, not long for John neither short for Jonathan just Johnny. Been a huge NBA fan since born but been a die hard Magic fan since around 2008 and a casual fan prior. A few of unforgettable Magic memories I have personally experienced live was when we beat Lebron and the Cavs to advance to the Championship and see Dwight and co celebrate, our ONLY championship win over the Lakers and probably the best game I ever witnessed live was a Boston game where it literally went down to the wire and we came back from a large deficit and ended up winning, honestly don't remember what game it was maybe Christmas game, the energy from the arena and the faces of all the Boston fans (a lot of them in Orlando) when we won was priceless! I'm 27 and graduated from West Orange High School class of 2005. Born in Brooklyn, NY but raised in Orlando. I am currently the director of Operations/Sales for the biggest charter bus company in the world and handle major accounts such as (Google,Apple,Facebook,eBay etc.) and hopefully if my plan works I will be working for a fortune 500 company and move to San Fan before I am 30!

Also I was a part of the most epic speculation thread (mostly lurking) in the WORLD! If you were not around when the Chris Paul rumors came around you seriously missed out on something special. I use to wake up to 50 yes I said it F-I-F-T-Y new pages to read, it's funny that I get excited for 3-4 now lol. The good ol days when we had bulletin signs on I-4 in Orlando praying for CP3 to come lol.

I am now super excited for our new young core and have all the faith in the world in Rob!

I was there in 2011, the Amway Center was already in use. Amway Arena was in preparation for demolition at the time. It was a ghosthouse when I walked around it, it seemed. Never got the chance to see a game in the ol' O-Rena... and that makes me a sad panda.
