Interesting. He's got this reputation for having some character issues since he was in Utah. Talented but I do not want someone probably messing up with Lance.

Part of the backup plan for Lance leaving?

He is a solid role player. May can be had on a cheap contract if Lance goes. I personally would like for a guy like this to backup Lance off the Pine. Hes a guy who can score.

Really? He was a perfect locker room guy the past couple years here in Cleveland. Had a good run last year, too. 6'6". More a SG, but can play some SF, too. Would be an upgrade on Rasual Butler and would likely mean that Butler was gone, unless we lose Lance, too.

@WojYahooNBA: In pursuit of shooting, Pacers pushing to use $2.1M exception on free agent guard C.J. Miles, league sources tell Yahoo Sports.

EXCEPT.....

Woj is wrong, I believe. We used the BAE on Watson last year. And as it's only a Bi Annual exception, cannot use it this year. So, it'd have to be part of MLE.

Guess the Pacers forgot they have shooting sitting on the bench...

Now days an Athlete is considered to have character issues if he has one disagreement with a coach or player in a locker room. Or has one incident where he does something (ie: partying too much; or ) that the media or fans doesnt think he should. Dont know how much I buy that accusation. I wish the media and fans would get past the fact that in sports youre not fans of choir boys. They never have been and never will be.

this feels like a possible Turner replacement. Solo, and Butler if resigned, will get minutes at the 3 but we could use another 2.

Would love Miles here. Wanted him before free agency started so this is awesome to hear. However, I'd rather spend the money on Lance if need be (hopefully not). Also kind of worrying that we're getting yet another non-elite scorer. I know our scoring sucks, but I don't really think the answer is a bunch of guys like him, though I like the idea of the move still.

Well, it also means $1m less we can give Lance. I can't see us signing CJ if we re-sign Lance. Barring a big giveback from Lance.

Jodie Meeks just got 3/19 from the Pistons so Miles's agent would have to be stupid to even consider anything less than the full MLE which I wouldn't want to give him.

Jodie Meeks got WHAT?!?

I can't say I'm surprised that the Pistons did that though. They are the team that gave Josh Smith $56 million dollars after all.

Can the MLE be split between two guys?

Yeah they've made some bone head moves in signings.

Yeah I can understand if the last year is a team option or some of the contract is unguaranteed though. If SVG's vision is to make certain he gets a couple of high level shooters to maximize Drummond's game and take the next two seasons to develop him then build a contender it might not be too bad.

Say the last season is a team option, you take two seasons of developing guys, move Smith and Monroe (I assume they won't pay him the max), sign a couple other shooters (they gave Cartier Martin a deal with a PO next season too), show Drummond how good he can be, and go from there, I guess it's not too bad, albeit still a massive overpay.

Nonetheless it doesn't bode well for us (or the rest of the league). I wish Lance took the likely 7-8 mil deal we offered him at midnight, but now it's going to look like quite a lowball compared to Meeks' deal.

Meeting with CJ tonight for dinner. Maybe a deal in place soon?

But if we're bringing back Rasual Butler, why sign CJ? And if we have to wait to sign Lavoy until Lance makes a decision, it seems weird to rush into a deal with CJ.

That could be the incident, like being the odd person in the locker room, it was in his rookie or 2nd year I think. I cannot remember the case exactly. Probably more matured right now as Scoot said he's a good locker room guy now in Cleveland. Probably a case of having the right teammates I guess.
