Pistons Interested in Trevor Ariza

I think he's a great player and I'm all in to sign him here. SVG is interested in the right players so far. I'm really excited to see who we're getting this summer.

Thoughts...

This is true, but Alex Kennedy is relatively credible.

and from ESPN
The Rockets, Mavericks, Pistons, Clippers and Suns are all expected to pursue Ariza once free agency opens on July 1, according to sources.

I would be thrilled if we could S&T Thomas and land Ariza. Thomas/KCP/Ariza/Monroe/Drummond is a big upgrade

oh i have no doubt its true, but imo claiming Bleacher report as the source makes it less credible.

Ariza would fill some holes nicely

EVERYONE wants Ariza, he's perfect for the current "3&D" style of the league.

I really don't expect us to be major contenders for him. I'd have to believe Houston, Dallas, LAL, LAC, Miami and Washington would all be above us on his list.

I really hope Ariza agrees to go elsewhere. He's going to be a turd once he signs that new contract.

He's definitely not a $9+ million player. He's a 29 year old role player.

Can't believe people still want Ariza. His best 2 seasons were contract years. If that doesn't speak volumes I don't know what will.

Trevor Ariza the player would fit nicely. Trevor Ariza the contract probably won't. I don't think he's coming here for anything in the "value contract" range and we aren't in a position to be over-paying role players.

That ignores A LOT of context. His first "contract career year" the Lakers just had him play defense and shoot open jump shots. He left to go to Houston and they put him into more of a spot light role (his usage spiked and his true shooting % flatlined) and then he was traded to New Orleans where he played with CP3 one year before being stuck on some bad teams. Last year was the first year he was really put in a position to use his strengths since he signed his new deal.

That said, I really don't think he's worth $9-10 mil and anything less than that he'd surely take the mid level with the Clippers over a few more million from us, considering he's an LA guy.

I'm very weary of Ariza. Classic example of someone overperforming in a contract year.

I think he's just finally not being misused as a some 20 ppg scorer who can dominate the ball so he is fitting in very nice. 8-9 sounds fair for what he is

I think a 3/24 deal for Ariza is fair. I can't see him being offered more than that.

Ariza and SVG didn't get along in Orlando.

Ariza played well for Stan in Orlando. But, back then Ariza mostly played SG for the Magic. Thus, he would be an asset as a swing man worst case. But, I am nervous about teams paying him more than he is worth. He has been more of a sixth man throughout most of his career. I wouldn't pay him more than 6-7 mil per year.

If we can get him for 3/20 - which I am aware will not happen - then okay. Anything more then no thanks.
