Hawks among the teams that have reached out to Deng: http://basketball.realgm.com/wiretap/23 ... -Luol-Deng

Hawks to show interest in Monroe: http://basketball.realgm.com/wiretap/23 ... agic-Hawks

Made a thread about him, but Bazemore:
Zach Links @ HoopsRumors.com wrote:The Hawks were the first team to call unrestricted free agent Kent Bazemore after midnight, a source tells Alex Kennedy of Basketball Insiders (on Twitter). The Hawks are really high on the Lakers free agent.

http://www.hoopsrumors.com/2014/07/southeast-rumors-gortat.html

Another tidbit in the same link:
Zach Links @ HoopsRumors.com wrote:Hawks‘ GM Danny Ferry plans to be “very aggressive” in free agency, a source tells Alex Kennedy of Basketball Insiders (on Twitter)

Not exactly sure what "very aggressive" would mean though.

One request is that if there's actual discussion about a player, let's push that to another thread. Just think that having a 20 page thread becomes unwieldy very quickly and we end up going to other places for more consumable information.

I'm fine with that

Hoping Bazemore falls through. Would be okay with Deng and Monroe if we got both of them it would be an upgrade.

Steve Koonin was on the radio this morning saying that bloggers and reporters have no clue on Ferry's intentions. I think Ferry is just throwing out feelers for the most part so far.

I'm still holding out hope that we get a chance to sit down with Melo.

I'd like for us to make Marcin Gortat a backup plan.

BREAKING NEWS:

Dwyane Wade will reportedly return with the Heat on a four-year contract, according to the Oregonian's John Canzano.
He'll earn $12 million in the first year of the deal, which means he lost close to $10 million in 2014-15 by declining his player option. It's a bold move for Wade, though he'll make some of it back by locking himself into a contract through the 2017-18 season. His ailing knees make that a risky proposition for Miami, but by restructuring Wade and Chris Bosh's contracts they've propped open the window for a few more championship runs with the Big 3.

Chris Bosh has reportedly agreed to a five-year deal with the Heat, beginning with an $11 million salary in 2014-15.
As with Dwyane Wade, Bosh terminated his lucrative contract in favor of a longer-term deal that would allow the Heat to keep LeBron James and rebuild the roster with greater depth. Bosh was a sneaky third-round fantasy value last season in only 32 minutes per game, and he remains a strong draft option for steady (if unspectacular) across-the-board production.

LBJ going MERCENARY, only looking for a MAX 2 year deal

LeBron James is seeking a maximum salary on a short-term contract with the Heat which would expire after 1-2 years, according to John Canzano of the Oregonian.
Such a deal would theoretically allow LBJ to play a few more years with Chris Bosh and Dwyane Wade before their declining play closes the championship window, at which point he could seek his fortunes elsewhere as a free agent. He'd hit free agency again as a 31-year-old if he does sign a two-year deal, setting him up for another massive multi-year pact.

Bosh is a straight fool if he takes 11 million while Lebron demands a full max. Bosh could easily earn 18-20 million if he tested the market. Why should he give up 40% of his salary when Lebron isn't willing to give up a penny? and then Lebron will leave them hanging in two years? Bosh already sacrifices the most when it comes to changing your game to fit the others.

If I'm Bosh, I'm demanding Lebron take some type of paycut as well if I'm giving up that much.

Man, Bosh has kids...and a wife. He better go after that last big contract of his career and get financial security for the next 2 or 3 generations of his family.

For some inexplicable reason, I feel like this is a real loss:

Bye bye Cartier, feels like I never really knew ya.

He's a solid bench player. Hope this contract is guaranteed.

Very happy for cartier. I'm sure it will be a relief for him not having to constantly worry about the next due date on his 10 day contract

Market set for Centers with Gortat getting $12 million per. If I'm Monroe's agent, no way I accept less than $14 million per.

Sounds like they chose Marcin over Ariza. Which was the right choice.
