Maybe we don't win a title, but we get better. If you can get a top five player that fits your exact needs, you have to do it. Is there anyone else you think would bring us closer to a title, or you just rather not be as good of a team?

I wouldnt mind Dorrell Wright and Thomas Robinson (Team FOE Morris twins and Thomas)

Call me crazy...but Eff Lebron and Melo or Love. I dont want them. I would rather just keep the same core let them build on the somewhat unexpected success we had last season and get those two guys mentioned above. We have a really deep talented young guys on our team and i dont want to mess that up. Re-signed Bledsoe (im against giving him max but what the hell! give him the max)

Dragic/Archie

Now let's just hope Lowry signs with Toronto (heck, with anyone other than Miami).
Riley's options would be pretty slim. Would LeBron find Deng and Gasol enough of an improvement to stay with the Heat?

Lebron's "I'll take my time" approach could be the death of the Heat chances to sign quality FA's. No FA with sense is going to wait on Lebron when teams are offering them big money right away. If you snooze you lose!!

Word is that LeBron is giving Riley a few days to see if he can do something to improve the team in free agency, otherwise he is out of there.

I do not think Riley has enough room to get it done. Dallas, Cleveland, Houston, Phoenix, Lakers. Those have to be the most likely spots. So here are my odds. Odds that Miami can put together a roster that says "stay." 30%. Suns chances among the rest of the teams even with everyone else. So 1 in 5. So, 15% chance over all.

I agree to an extent. I'd be just as fine not getting LeBron or Melo as getting them. Not a fan of these diva entourage stars. I'd take Love, because he fits a need, and he would be a guy who has just blossomed into a very good player who hasn't won anything in the NBA yet, and isn't nearly the diva as those guys. But there is probably a 95% chance we don't get LeBron and Melo and a 75% chance we don't get Love anyway. I'd be fine watching a young team grow and trusting McD to build it from the ground up much like Indy and Washington have kind of done. Success is much more exciting that way to me. I also have always liked pulling for the underdogs too. I never pull for favorites (not saying I wouldn't if/when the Suns become favorites since they are my favorite team and I've been a die hard fan for years, but in general).

I'd rather develop the youth, save cap space, and make another run in a couple years when Durant is free. I guess I'm just more patient.
I realize we'd be better, I just don't want to splurge it all.

Gotcha. I don't mind the patient approach. But I think Durant is a very loyal guy and will stay in OKC. Presti will keep them in the mix when he's a free agent, he's best friends with Westbrook, loves all his teammates....just can't see him leaving. He's a guy I absolutely love to have though. I like him 100x more than Melo and 50x more than LeBron.

Keep hitting the weights Alex ... Beast it up.

This kid could really contribute if he puts it together.

We still have to be in the hunt for a PF ... Wouldn't be surprised if McBob shows up as a consolation prize

I agree. With it sounding like Gortat will get 5 years (I'd imagine 12-13mil per), and Lowry possibly getting near max, I just don't see what else the Heat can acquire to appease James.

Best case scenario for the Heat will be Carter, Marion, Nelson. Or Deng and Carter.

Guys like Carter and Marion aren't going to Miami unless they know James will remain there.

My wild card for them is, they knew all along that Melo will sign with them and are just playing the game until the weekend.

Your points are valid though. Besides, Dragic is in his prime and it's not like we can wait 3 or 4 years and expect him to be this good still and pair him with another star.

Gotta getm while they're hot (and available)

If fry leaves I wonder if they would kick the tires on some younger guys like ed Davis or Patrick Patterson. I'd be OK with either if the price was right.

You folks wanting to build it organically are crazy -

1) Does it really matter if you drafted the superstar (Durant, Duncan etc...) as opposed to obtaining the superstar via free agency? If so, explain why. Superstars don't grow on tree's. You either get super lucky with a ping pong ball bounce and enjoy a decade (if the player resigns with you) of success. Or you get your superstar through this beautiful process call free agency. Just like the corporate world, if your have an opportunity to do better for you with pay, or work life balance or more profitable / winning company - you consider that. Good for Lebron embracing what the league allows him to do. Explore his options.

2) Our team won 48 games last year. Adding Lebron is instant contender status. Adding Lebron and Melo to our current core is just scary, borderline unfair to the rest of the league. I would argue much better team than Miami has ever fielded. That team went to 4 straight NBA Finals.

3) The last time we were in the finals - while it feels like yesterday to me - it was freaking 21 years ago. Archie Goodwin was not even alive then.

4) This town went nuts in 1993. I want to see that happen again. You sell harder than you have ever sold before to make this thing go down. Phoenix will go insane. Afterall, outside of a few of us, there is not better bandwagon fan state than Arizona. Everyone is transplants. Let the 5th largest city in the US rally behind Lebron. Look at what Fitz has accomplished with the Cardinals. Lebron would be a whole different level of support.

5) You don't want Lebron...... Really? Are you scared of being good? Scared to win?

Would be happy with just a pick and a TPE.

Can't happen. They need to send $$$ back. The idea is that they'd need to S&T to outbid other teams for his services. We'll see what his market is.

I don't see how either of those two have any skill set comparable to Frye. We don't need another big to clog the lane.

If we lose Frye, I can only hope that our new Alec can spread the floor, and be good enough to see minutes.

Anyone else find it ironic that Alec Brown's Green Bay team name is the Pheonix?

I've thought about him if we lose Frye. Decent stretch four, but he sure isn't much of a rebounder (well, I was looking at his 4.8 boards a game in 30 minutes this year, but he had 7.2 the year before when Jefferson wasn't there, so maybe he is a pretty good rebounder).

There sure isn't much talk about who people would want if we strike out on the big names (probable) and lose Frye (possible). I guess most would like to start Kieff, but it still seems you'd want a back up if he moved to a starting role, unless you just played Marcus at PF, Warren at SF in the second unit which I guess makes sense. If PJ leaves Green at the 3 as a starter. It would certainly relieve some cap space next summer if PJ and Frye were not here, but I think we'd sorely miss PJ's defense, and two players who could stretch the floor.

I agree. If Frye goes, let's not overspend to replace him.

I would actually consider McRoberts in that case. He will probably not get more than 4mil per for 2-3 years.
