2014-15 Pistons Lineup (under construction)

Post#1 » by theBigLip » Tue Jul 1, 2014 10:02 pm

This is just my take of where we are right now, obviously going to change daily.

PG: ??? / Jennings
SG: Meeks / KCP
SF: ??? / Singler
PF: ??? / ??? / Jerebko
C: Drummond / ???

Lots of question marks.
1. I still think we are looking for a new starting PG
2. I think we are still looking for a starting SF
3. I have a feeling that both Monroe and Smith are goners. More so Monroe which goes against everything I posted the last two months.

To be continued...

Monroe for Ryan Anderson, Tyreke Evans

Smith, Jennings for Thomas, Thompson, Terry

PG - Thomas / Evans / Terry
SG - Meeks / KCP / Terry
SF - Singler / Martin
PF - Anderson / Jerebko
C - Drummond / Thompson

After that... I'm still down to sign Ariza, if possible... 3 & D is exactly what we need at SF.

Meeks is starting? I wouldn't make that a lock. I see Meeks as more of an 8th man type. KCP could definitely take that starting job.

Are you actively trying to construct a worse defensive team than last year? I didn't that was possible but after looking at that roster I think you've done it.

We really cant be matching a max contract now for Monroe in my opinion. Hoping theres a sign and trade with Sacramento involving Smith and Thomas in the works. Then we can either decide to move forward with Moose or to sign and trade him as well.

Before Meeks had his breakout year, he stuck in the league by playing hard defense.

Thomas is an upgrade from Jennings on D.
Meeks is a downgrade from KCP on D but not as much as everyone thinks. Plus, easily our best 3 point shooter.
Ariza would be an upgrade from Smith or Singler. Singler might even be an upgrade over Smith defending SF's.
Anderson is a downgrade from Monroe on D
Drummond will improve a ton under SVG.

I think this team would be better defensively than last year but not by much.

Offensively, though... HUGE improvement.

I want to keep Monroe, but not for the MAX. I like Monroe/Drummond gobbling up all the offensive rebounds if they are surrounded by three players who can shoot the 3.

Then I want absolutely nothing to do with it. DEFENSE FIRST.

BTW, I've heard a few lakers fans now talk about how bad defensively Meeks is.

SF: Singler-32, Martin-8, Meeks-8
SG: KCP-36, Meeks-12

Sounds more likely to me right now.

If he's making 6.5 million he better be starting!

Our best bet going forward:

Sign and trade Thomas and Thompson for Jennings, Bynum, Datome

Sign and trade Monroe for Batum and McCollum

Thomas / McCollum
Meeks / KCP
Batum / Singler
Smith / Thompson
Drummond / Vet C

I will denounce my super fandom of the blazers if they trade Batum and CJ for Monroe... Way too one sided.

Well now that we are paying 10M to Meeks and KCP there is no way Blazers are getting Monroe unless Batum comes back.

Whether its Batum/Leonard or Batum/McCollum all depends on how much you want Monroe

Knowing how much our team values Batum, he isn't going to be involved. Even if i was for it, i don't see Olshey pulling the trigger. Which would probably make this trade improbable because i am sure you guys would want Batum.

From a blazer perspective, the only thing i can see us trading is one of two packages:

1: CJ, Robinson, Leonard, future 1st. Thats if Monroe is signed for about $13mil.

OR

2: Mathews, Robinson, Leonard future 1st.

ALSO; we could swap Wright out for o a player for the need of a SF

Again, not saying its fair for either side, but thats the only way i see the blazers doing it.

Both deals dont solve any needs for the Pistons

Wing players can be replaced, pairing a young big man with Aldridge is a much harder proposition

Man, I do NOT want to get rid of KCP. We'll be regretting that for years so I hope Stan does not make that move. KCP imrpvoes his shot and you have an awesome knockdown shooter who can guard like a pit bull.
