Even if we lose McBob that'll be extra money to bring in somebody better or as good. I didn't lose much sleep when McBob was injured and we were forced to start Zeller for a few games. I want McBob back but the goal of this free agency is simply not to overpay and add talent. There will be another free agency next year that analysts are saying will likely be better.

If we did manage to add both Vasquez and Stephenson this would be the dream offseason for us. Not only would we have had a top 5 talent drop to us with a pick we shouldn't have had, we also would have successfully weakened the top 3 teams in our conference and making ourselves stronger in the process. I'd be pissed if Cho didn't get GM of the year quite frankly.

It's probably not happening, but it's nice to dream.

Exactly. If we get Lance at a decent price I'm not even sure I'd want to spend much on a backup PG like Livingston or Sessions actually since we could pick up someone decent for super cheap, use Lance as our backup PG and use the depth we have on the wing now to fill in the minutes at SG when Lance is running point. If we can get McBob for 4 million for a couple years fine but if we save a decent chunk of money we could add another difference maker next year if needed or if not we'll at least have plenty of money to resign our young guys without going into the luxury tax. If we can't get Lance I'm not really willing to pay any of the players we could realistically get the money they would require other than a good backup PG since we would then have a huge hole there and could get someone on Sessions level at a pretty reasonable price. There are so many teams with tons of cap so mid level players are going to get overpaid like crazy and other than the obvious superstars that we have no chance at getting Lance is the only guy really worth throwing some big money at. I hope Cho's conservative nature with the cap prevails and we don't do anything crazy like offer a max contract to Gordon Hayward or throw away 12 million for Ariza.

From the other thread...

McRoberts shouldn't have any effect on Lance. We have the cap room to land Stephenson and have room left over for McBob. I wouldn't treat this like an either/or situation.

With the recent "rumors" of Bosh taking an enormous paycut, I was thinking... Regardless of the fact that we just drafted another PF, I would still offer Chris Bosh a near max deal just to get him off Miami.

Assume the BS rumor is true for a minute- do you think Bosh is going to take a paycut from $19M down to $11M for several years just to play with Lebron and the latest AARP candidate in Wade? I could see us, Atlanta, Chicago, Washington, Orlando, Toronto, Cleveland, Houston, Dallas, Phoenix, LA Lakers... any of them could make an offer to attempt to dismantle the Miami Big 3 and I hope to hell one of them does- I would do it myself. And if you're Chris Bosh, you're an idiot for not taking $18M-$22M from another team to only take half of that from Miami.

I'm not opposed to not retaining McBob, but I do feel like that neither Vonleh nor Zeller are ready to start so I'd like a starter brought in at least for the short term.

I just feel like McRoberts is the perfect fit. I look around at other FA bigs like Ed Davis and Jordan Hill. They are both good players and McRoberts isn't significantly better, if better at all, than either one. But his skill set is just perfect for us. We've got energy bigs. Zeller will give us that. Vonleh will give us that at least short term until he develops more offensively. A guy like McRoberts who will space the floor, move the ball, and play smart is exactly what we need. Bringing him back on a 2 year deal, even if it is a slight overpay, would be a smart thing to do unless we can find a clear upgrade.

One of Miami's top 2 rumored targets is out of the picture. Now lets see what Lowry does. if Lowry doesn't sign with the Heat, it is going to be LeBron, and a bunch of old washed up dudes again. Good luck with that. He might want to start putting more pressure on the front office to make that team better.

I saw a tweet that said Bosh had the most expensive house in the NBA, unless that is paid in full, no way he can take a $10 mil/year hit.

Jefferson is in his super duper king sized bed right now grinning ear to ear after seeing those numbers.

What we may pay Kemba and Al next summer is something I don't even want to think about.

Jefferson's going to have to be paid again next summer, remember he can opt out, and we all know he's getting more than $13M on the open market. We might as well prepare offering him a two-year, $36M extension now.

Lets see if he can duplicate this past season first.

I'd say he's frowning and feeling underpaid looking at those numbers

We need to lock Kemba up with an extension THIS SUMMER. I can't emphasize enough that we need to sign him to a 5/40 or 5/45 deal this summer (comparable $/yr to Jeff Teague, Goran Dragic, and Mike Conley), otherwise we run the risk of having to pay A LOT more next summer if he breaks out. Al isn't eligible for an extension but we need to prepare for an all-out spending spree for him.

Walkers going to wait and see what Lowry gets. That will be a good comp for what we should expect to give him next Summer, assuming he improves his shooting
