As long as GarPax doesn't screw up the numbers, I doubt he really cares.

Boom. That's the death of the Rose don't recruit stuff. He just admit to recruiting LOL

Guess people jumped the gun a little early bashing Derrick for not recruiting Melo. Maybe next time wait until it actually happens before going crazy. Some people just love thinking the worst of guys.

Nah...Drose is sabotaging the team. He's selfish and only wants to collect pay checks.

I heard due to the new tv deal coming up alot of players signing contracts will have opt outs after the 2nd year. I see melo doing this regardless where he ends up.

So lets assume melo picks us but wants more then the 16 mil we can offer w/o trading Taj. And ny is too prideful to take back picks in a boozer swap.

Well, if melo is confident in his abilities and is willing to take a risk on what could come about healthwise, he could sign a 4 year deal here with a 3rd year opt out and then just resign to a max deal and take advantage of the tv contract.

Then he really only ends up losing around 12 million. And for a guy that has made max money since coming into the league that is not a big deal. lebron has given up 3x that amount to win.

Man, it's taken me 3 hours, but I have finally read every page of the Melo drama since I went to bed (thread 11, page 71).

You guys put in serious work. I'm getting nervous now, though.

I am not worried about HOU, DAL or LAL.

It's CHI or NY.

We're a contender from day one if we can get Melo via S&T. I really hope he sees this and values this more than the 3-4 million he may/may not lose out from the Knicks.

4 Years.

Jeeze. In my head we're considerably younger than that. It kind of stings a bit seeing this harsh reality. It's 4 years if we're lucky.

Alex Kennedy ‏@AlexKennedyNBA 6m

Carmelo Anthony met with the Bulls earlier today. Now, source says he's at dinner with Joakim Noah and Derrick Rose among others right now.

@AlexKennedyNBA: I'm told Derrick Rose had to leave the dinner with Carmelo Anthony and Joakim Noah early. Tom Thibodeau also stopped by, per source.

He's turning down tens and tens of millions of dollars to sign with Chicago? For what? A slim chance at beating Miami? Why not take a bit more of a pay cut and sign with Miami if winning is truly the most important thing.

Or resign with New York for max money

Bulls will s&t for him and and send Boozer, Dunleavy and picks out. Anthony is a Bull. Deal with it.

The thing about a sign and trade is that it takes two. New York can say no and force Anthony to take less, find a different team to deal with, or stay for money. Lots and lots of money.

But that would be acting irrationally for the Knicks if it comes to that. I'd assume Dolan would step in if that becomes the case, and overrule Phil Jackson.

Phil Jackson isn't stupid, and he's not going to do something dumb to hurt the Knicks franchise going into last year. In a sign and trade, the Knicks can get draft picks as well as $3 million in cash from the Bulls. Would be incredibly dumb to turn down free picks and cash, as well as probably turning down an additional $6 million in cap space for next summer by passing on the opportunity to dump JR Smith on the Bulls.

And if the Knicks walk away with unprotected picks in 2015/2017 from the Bulls (as well as the Kings pick), they need to take it. You never know what those picks could become.

2015 Bulls pick will probably be bad, but you never know, maybe Rose gets injured again and the team self implodes on itself as Melo adjusts to fit in. Kings pick could be a late lottery pick over the next few years. 2017 Bulls...you never know what could happen in 3 years, Bulls would probably be good, but sometimes teams just fall apart, so that may become valuable. With the exception of the Kings pick, neither of the Bulls picks would likely be high, but there is the chance they could become that, you just never know. If not, they're still draft picks that can be used in trades, move up on draft day, trade away for future firsts on draft day, used to stash international players, or maybe the Knicks can draft their own Jimmy Butler or Taj Gibson late in the draft with them!

And dumping Smith is huge. Could be the difference between a very significant in being the difference between being able to kill it in free agency next season and not killing it.

Point is, it seems highly unlikely that the Knicks front office would throw a temper tantrum and refuse to sign and trade Carmelo when it would be in their franchise's best interest to make the best of the situation, dump JR Smith, tank next year with the Booz Cruise, and get some additional draft picks over the next few years in the process so Jackson can rebuild with a completely clean slate, and more assets.

Like they didn't pick up on the possibility of a meeting with Melo at 11pm last night. 8-)

I find it interesting he's still here. He still has to go to Texas. It'll be interesting to see if he does this in every city. Especially since Mavs and Rockets don't even get a whole day with him.

You're gonna blame posters for taking Rose's word for it when he said "I don't recruit?" All right.

Whoa now. Chances are he ended up "recruiting" in a large part because of all the bashing he received. It's also starting to seem as if that Noah tweet may have been directed at him. Either way, it's becoming pretty clear that the rest of the Bulls viewed it to be important that he actually participate in this process.

No point in saying that people jumped the gun. They didn't. He straight up said he wasn't going to recruit, and that's what people reacted to.
